How to Build Your Self-Confidence Muscle

Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, in particular, weight loss. If we don’t feel good about ourselves; feel confident – what do we do? We head to the fridge. Stuff those feelings down. EAT!
All other things being equal, self-confidence is often the one ingredient that distinguishes a successful person from someone less successful.
The good news is that self-confidence is yet another muscle to build up and on. It’s takes practice to like oneself.
It’s a matter of focusing on all that you do well, all that is good about you. And believe me, there is a lot more fabulous in you than you can imagine.

How to Build Your Self Confidence Muscle

One of the best ways to start to build your self-confidence muscle is to recognize and acknowledge all that you accomplish on a daily basis.
And one way to keep track of your daily accomplishments is to keep a daily log or diary identifying any and all goals that you reach, no matter how big or small, positive behavior changes, positive feedback from others, anything that you handled during the day in a positive way, any wins in any areas.
One of the things I put in my daily log yesterday: “Packed for trip to The Crossings, Texas.” Yay! One thing I can cross off my to-do list. “Made corner grocer smile when I said thank you in Korean.” I spread good cheer!
Stop right now and think. What could you write in your self-confidence success log? “I’m thinking about a self-confidence log. Wow! Great first step.”
Keep the daily log or diary at hand so that you can fill it in immediately as you achieve something rather than forgetting! Combine it with your daily food sheet, if you like; or your gratitude journal. Just be sure to note your accomplishments in some way, shape or form so that you give yourself the credit you deserve! Feel your self-confidence muscle growing? Work it daily!!
Spread the word … NOT the icing,

LEMON: Antidote to What Ails You

While we might believe that life is a linear journey, for most of us, it is a circuitous event. There are hills, valleys, twists and turns, set backs and leaps forward. There are the ‘plum’ experiences, and then, there are the ‘lemons.’
We love the delicious plums, don’t we? Sweet and juicy! They’re easy to embrace and enjoy.
The lemons of life are actually more of a challenge, yes? And with challenge comes opportunity for change. YAY!!! We love opportunity!!! (Feeling more excited about the lemons in your life, already, yes?)
Now, I don’t know what is going on in your life, but I am going to out on a limb and presume that there is at least one ‘lemon’ floating through it. One ‘lemon’ that you can, today, transform into a glass of delicious, soul satisfying lemonade.
What is a lemon?
A lemon is a citrus fruit whose exact origins remain a mystery, although it is widely believed that lemons first grew in India, northern Burma and China. In South and Southeast Asia lemons were primarily know for their antiseptic properties, and they were used as an antidote for various poisons.
A lemon can be your antidote to what ails you.
For instance, we were planning on a vacation but the economy threw us (hurled and hit is more like it) a lemon the size of a grapefruit. Instead of going to some exotic place, we are staying home. Now, I could suck on that lemon and feel like something was taken away from me … or I can add ingredients to the lemon and turn it around.
What to do? I made a list of all my in-town friends, put together a list of free events in the city, and I invited some to one event; some to another – hosted a potluck dinner at my house and had the best time connecting with friends with whom I otherwise struggle to find time to see. I filled my week with fun activities and fabulous friends. Truthfully, in lots of ways, it was better than a trip! No jet lag involved!!!
In keeping with the theme (you know, I do LOVE a theme!), I whipped up a blender full of lemonade for everyone! Here’s my recipe!
Keeping It Healthy – Lemonade. Instead of using sugar in your lemonade recipe, substitute 4 apples to 1/4 lemon, peel and all! Through into your food processor. Wowzer. Lemonade without sugar!!!! How exciting is that????
Spread the word … NOT the icing!

In Pursuit of Happiness: Give and Give Some More

As we approach a most significant mile-stone in our great nation’s history … as we witness the swearing in of our first African-American President … let us reflect on one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence.
“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” – three aspects that are listed among the “inalienable rights” of man.
How can you live a life of happiness?
Be the GIVING; be the CHANGE … put others before yourself – volunteer on Monday, January 19th – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day … and going forward. SIGN HERE, The Declaration of Service.
MY PLEDGE
Happily, in exploring USA Service, I found that I can visit a local school and do some hand’s on work with the students. I am going to put together ‘happiness art projects’ to hand out to the children who would like to bring home a “Pursuit of Happiness” project.
PLEDGE NOW! Sign the Declaration of Service! Give and Give Some More.
