Our Lady of Weight Loss

More to Love: Empower or exploit?

janice before-after postcard copy.jpgOur Lady of Weight Loss, the patron saint of permanent fat removal, wonders, “Will Fox’s new TV show, “More to Love,” exploit or empower women? ‘Tune in’ tomorrow to read her always honest and to the point review, hot off the Kick in the Tush Club press.
Our Lady of Weight Loss, eagerly awaits tonight’s Fox premiere of More to Love,” a television show that was inspired by the success of “Bachelor” and “The Biggest Loser.
OLofWL is curious to ‘meet’ the 20 contestants that Fox Television has cast as ‘real women.’ What does a ‘real woman’ look like? How does a ‘real woman’ talk, walk, and act? Is this show really ‘for the rest of us?’ Where are these women from and what do they do for a living? I mean, how ‘regular’ are they? Are they pretty or plain? What does a non-traditional attractive person look like?
Will it be tacky? Or moving? Will OLofWL feel for those who have never gone on a date, a second date? Will the producers of the show empower these women or exploit them? How many tears will be shed?
Our Lady of Weight Loss wonders about Luke Conley, the 330 pound real estate developer. Does he deserve their love?
Who are the sponsors? How many food commercials will be thrust upon us?
And finally, is this show really worth a full hour of our time?

Kim and Kloe Kardashian: How to turn a 15-minute sex tape into a ‘miracle’ weight loss cure

janice before-after postcard copy.jpgAs Kim and Kloe Kardashian launch their new diet product, “Quick Trim” – a lemonade cleanse set to hit the GNC shelves in August – Our Lady of Weight Loss offers a red-hot Kick in the Tush!
Kim and Kloe Kardashian have partnered with GNC to launch “Quick Trim,” their version of the lemonade cleanse, this summer. Before you buy into the latest diet miracle, consider this:
Kim’s foray into fame and fortune was via a sex tape with Ray J, Brandy’s brother. In addition to having her own clothing line and representing numerous products, Kim also signed with Nivea to be a part of the ‘girls with curves and cellulite’ rock campaign.
Kloe, who exercises daily, reportedly eats little past noon and limits herself to one glass of champagne per girly girl outing, says that their special lemonade elixir helped her to shed 20 pounds.
Our Lady of Weight Loss wants to remind you that there are no quick fixes, no miracle cures, no magic bullets and that liquid diets and lemonade cleanses are not sustainable. Further, Our Lady of Weight Loss is curious to know, “Are the Kardashian girls coming from a clean and authentic helping place or is this all about show me the money?”
Remember, our goal is to permanently remove excess weight, NOT to lose weight and then find it … again!
Might the latest miracle cure be just another ‘Stay Fat Strategy in disguise?’
Think about that as you pass this “Kick in the Tush” forward.

Kirstie Alley: Stuck In a Fat Suit?

KICKOL-LOGO.jpgKirstie Alley is, once again, appearing on Oprah today discussing her 85 pound weight gain. What does Our Lady of Weight Loss and Janice Taylor have to say about this weighty matter? Plenty!
Kirstie Alley: Stuck In a Fat Suit?
Losing a substantial amount of weight and gaining it back is very (let me say that again … VERY …) depressing. I know, because I’ve done it. Several times. And I also know what it feels like to permanently remove that excess (50 pounds gone for almost 8 years!). There is a sense of freedom, of self-acceptance, of peace that exceeds words.
And so, I write this column from a place of knowledge, as a weight loss coach, an expert in the field and as someone who walks the talk.
As I listened to Kirstie Alley declare (once again) on Oprah, “I ‘m nuts … seriously.” “I’m a brat.” “I’m careless and irresponsible.” “It is about wearing a bikini.” “I’m going to be ripped by November.” “Okay February.” … I thought to myself, “Wow, she sure is setting herself up for failure. Again.”
And when Oprah said, “Can you believe that you are [we are] talking about this again?” I thought, “Good question, O!, Why are you talking about it again? Why is Kirstie exposing herself yet again to the scrutiny of the public eye, the ridicule?”
Kirstie then went on to say that she has spent the past 1.5 years, while gaining back every single pound lost on Jenny Craig plus an additional 10 pounds, “researching what is missing” from diet plans.
Kirstie further stated that she would start up her own weight-loss brand, even though it was “sort of crazy … We’re in the middle of a recession, and I decide, yes, I’m going to create my own business … I’m going to lose 80 pounds … I’m going to be in a bikini again.”
Was the appearance on Oprah a set-up? Are we now going to watch Kirstie get ‘thin’ again, so she can sell us her bill of goods?
Whether Kirstie loses it or not, I can pretty much guarantee that she is going to ‘find’ it again, because weight loss is primarily a mind set that comes from your belief systems; it’s about internal change. It’s about self-love and acceptance. Kirstie’s words, thought process, affect, sense of self appears not to have changed, moved, shifted, not even one tiny, little bit.
Kirstie, if you want to join the ‘permanent fat removal’ club, you’ve got to change your thinking. The bikini is not the prize. Loving yourself is.
