Hard Boiled Eggs, Caviar and Sex!!!

I am in the midst of putting my St. Valentine’s menu together. It’s loaded with aphrodisiacs!!! Caviar being one of them, which led me to an amazing Deviled Eggs recipe (topped with caviar). (See below).
The instructions warned that one must hard boil their eggs correctly! Correctly??? You mean you don’t just boil them. It’s more complicated than that??? My head is spinning …
… And I’m guessing that if I didn’t know how to correctly boil an egg that there are two or three others out there who are in the dark as well. So for those of us who are not gourmets, who thought all you had to do was toss an egg in boiling water and wait for it to get hard …
… here follows some hard boiled vital information on how to boil an egg – followed by a fab recipe and information on the whys and wherefores of caviar as an aphrodisiac!
HOW TO HARD BOIL AN EGG THE CORRECT WAY:
1. Do NOT use fresh eggs!!! They are difficult to peel. It’s best to use eggs that are near their expiration date.
2. To help center the yolks in the egg, be sure to store your eggs on their sides in the fridge for approximately 12 hours. Easy enough to do. Just seal your egg crate up with tape and turn it on its side.
3. Take eggs out of the fridge (no longer on their side) and bring to room temperature. They must be room temperature and if you take them straight from the fridge, you can run warm water over them for a minute or two.
4. Place eggs in a single layer in a pan with enough cold water to cover eggs. Bring water to boil, remove from heat, cover tightly with a lid, and leave eggs for 17 minutes.
5. Place eggs under running cold water to cool quickly. This is also known as ‘coddling.’ This will help prevent discoloration of the yolk and will also help to make the peeling process run more smoothly!
6. If you don’t consume your hard boiled eggs within a few hours, do refrigerate. And note that hard boiled eggs IN THE SHELL can be refrigerated up to one week only!
ST. VALENTINE’S CAVIAR and EGGS!
Ingredients: 8 hard-cooked eggs * 6 Tablespoons caviar (red or black) * 1 Tablespoon chopped chives or green onions * 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise (reduced calorie) * 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard * 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Preparation: Shell the hard-boiled eggs, cut them in halves, and remove the yolks. * Mash the yolks well and combine with caviar, mayonnaise, chives, mustard, and pepper. * When it is thoroughly whipped together, heap it into the whites with a spoon * Put a little dollop of caviar on the top of each egg. I like to alternate black caviar and red!
CAVIAR: An Aphrodisiac
Caviar stimulates the formation of testosterone, maintaining male functionality! . People believe that it can nourish and enhance nerve cells, hence an extremely heightened romantic instincts.

Janice & Dr. Norris Weigh-In: What Are You Hungry For?

birthday cake coloring book.jpg… continuing my ‘blog-O-sation’ with Dr. NorrisLet There Be Cake!!!
Dr. Norris … speaking of mothers … have you seen the video of my 92-year-young mother, Harriet, Queen of Cake??? Oh My Goodness!!! Cake reigned supreme in our house. It was the centerpiece of all happenings and relationships.
My mother baked a strawberry shortcake for birthdays, lemon cakes for my brother’s homecoming, chocolate cake for my father, etc. etc. etc.! My mother said that there’s no point in having coffee without cake. SHE was HUNGRY for CAKE!!!
I know this might seem silly, but when we visit my mother now, I bring ‘sheet cake,’ for us to color, as in with crayons! (birthday cake coloring book.pdf)
At the end of the day, What Are WE Hungry For?
LOVE, FUN, LAUGHTER, HAPPINESS, RELATIONSHIP, and pretty colors! And since we’ve always communicated through and with cake, I don’t see any need to take it out of the picture! So rather than eliminate cake, we just use a different form of it!
I truly believe that permanent ‘fat’ removal a.k.a. weight loss takes a good deal of creativity. Creative planning on all levels!
And I am always hungry for platters of creativity and someone to play with, laughter and smiles! Are you smiling?? Feel free to download the cake and color it … and by the way, you don’t have to stay within the lines if you don’t want to!

Janice & Dr. Norris Weigh-In: What are YOU hungry for?

janice before-after postcard copy.jpgHey Y’all …. Dr. Norris Chumley and this blogger were chatting last week on the phone (yup, on the phone – tre retro!), and we thought it would be fun to dish the dirt, chew the fat, blog-to-blog from time-to-time. You know, toss a topic back n’ forth.
Dr. Norris kicked off our first “blog-O-sation” with What are YOU hungry for?
And now … drum roll please … my response!

When I was a kid, my grandmother lived with us. She was a very large woman – 300 pounds, at least – and she was very hungry, all the time!! She visited the refrigerator early and often (it was her primary form of exercise – actually, it was her only form of exercise).
And to be perfectly honest, it was a bone of contention between my mother and grandmother. With each and every visit to the fridge, my mother asked in an exasperated fashion, “What are you looking for?”
My grandmother snapped back, “I’m hungry.”
“Hungry for what?” my mother continued. “You couldn’t possibly be hungry. You had a steak sandwich 1/2 an hour ago.” And so it went …
It was pretty clear that my grandmother wasn’t hungry for food. Needless to say, the question never got answered, but it was something that stayed with me and proved useful in my weight loss journey. (I am a master of making lemonade out of lemons!)
I even made a card and put it on my fridge (you can download here, if you like, for your fridge). “hungry for?.pdf?”
Now, when I ask myself “What are YOU hungry for?” I can answer without reaching for food. That’s progress!
And right now, in this very moment – what am I hungry for? Actually, starving for???

  • Warm weather (if spring doesn’t come soon, I’m going to screammmmm)
  • Sunlight (I’m low on Vitamin D. I’m sure of it!!!)
  • Laughter that brings tears (oh, I could so use a belly laugh!!!)
  • A visit from my brother (he lives in Ireland and I’m missing him)

And you??? What are you HUNGRY for? Both Dr. Norris and I really want to know. Actually, I AM hungry to know what YOU ARE hungry for! Truly!!

DIET Re-defined! from the Our Lady of Weight Loss Dictionary

Our Lady of Weight Loss spoke to me in my sleep last night. Actually, I wasn’t quite asleep. I was dozing … in the delicious half wake/half sleep state. Yum!
SHE has been communicating with me in this fashion for close to a decade now (Whoa! Time flies!). When she has something important to say, something she wants me to pass along to you, she nudges me just as I am drifting off. I keep a notebook and pen next to my bed, for such occasions. I jot down the message and then continue to drift, drift, drift … ahhhhhh.
Anyway, before I get so comfortable and drift off again … this time SHE specifically asked – more like instructed – that I reach out to YOU (yes, YOU!!), and see if you might be interested in joining us (OLofWL and me) in changing the agreed upon meaning of the word “DIET.”
The WORD: DIET
According to Webster’s dictionary the word ‘diet’ is not limited to what we eat or drink. Its number 2 meaning is: “something provided or experienced repeatedly, i.e. ‘a diet of Broadway shows and nightclubs’ ~ Frederick Wyatt.”
A diet of Broadway shows and nightclubs appealed to Our Lady. It seems like a diet she could live with. She also expressed interested in a ‘diet’ of happiness, love and gratitude. Yes, imagine ingesting daily platters of happiness, filling up on love! Wow!
OLofWL is very interested in re-defining ‘diet’ as a regime that moves us away from feelings of deprivation, defeat and depression (our past association to the word diet); and rather a regime that moves us toward happiness!
She is therefore suggesting a daily diet consisting of: happiness, creativity, self-love, and positive energy and that we feed our minds, spirit, and sense of play. That’s right!
We can follow The Happiness Diet and have our daily intake of happiness. Happiness includes (but is not limited to) talking to friends, enjoying a walk around the park, deep breaths of fresh air, buying flowers and arranging them in five vases around the living room!
Our Lady of Weight Loss wants to know …
What would you like to fill up on? What would you like to experience repeatedly? What new definition would you to give the word “diet?”
DIET: from the Our Lady of Weight Loss Dictionary
“Something that you experiences repeatedly that fills you up in the best sense … with non-food related items! For example: The Happiness Diet consists of daily platterfuls of beautiful morning skies, Mozart and/or John Lennon, dishy conversations with good friends, hugs, kisses, and cozy slippers.
