We’ve all heard that it’s best to feel them—to fully experience them—rather than stuff them down, bury ‘em deep within.  We’re talking about #Emotions!!!

Why?  Because when we suppress our feelings we are simply “trying” to be happy.  And we all know that “trying” doesn’t cut it.  As Yoda so wisely said, ” Do.  Or do not.  There is no try.”

When you resist feeling your emotions, you are essentially resisting that “which is,” and fighting that which is a.k.a. reality takes a lot of energy.  You are expending this precious energy on suppressing, resisting, fighting rather than living.

Our Lady of Weight Loss shares with you today 10 quotes to help you to fully get in touch with and feel your emotions.  She suggests that you find a comfortable place to sit, read through her hand-picked amazing quotes, breathe, be present, and feel.

Process your emotions and let them out.  And…in so doing, freedom is yours.

10 Quotes: Feel Your #Emotions

The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it… – Nicholas Sparks

Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert

Don’t be ashamed to weep; ’tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us. ~ Brian Jacques

Emotions, in my experience, aren’t covered by single words. I don’t believe in “sadness,” “joy,” or “regret.” Maybe the best proof that the language is patriarchal is that it oversimplifies feeling. I’d like to have at my disposal complicated hybrid emotions, Germanic train-car constructions like, say, “the happiness that attends disaster.” Or: “the disappointment of sleeping with one’s fantasy.” I’d like to show how “intimations of mortality brought on by aging family members” connects with “the hatred of mirrors that begins in middle age.” I’d like to have a word for “the sadness inspired by failing restaurants” as well as for “the excitement of getting a room with a minibar.” I’ve never had the right words to describe my life, and now that I’ve entered my story, I need them more than ever. ~ Jaffrey Eugenides

Joy is but the sign that creative emotion is fulfilling its purpose. ~ Charles Du Bos

Anger … it’s a paralyzing emotion … you can’t get anything done. People sort of think it’s an interesting, passionate, and igniting feeling — I don’t think it’s any of that — it’s helpless … it’s absence of control — and I need all of my skills, all of the control, all of my powers … and anger doesn’t provide any of that — I have no use for it whatsoever. ~ Toni Morrison

I think there is something beautiful in reveling in sadness. The proof is how beautiful sad songs can be. So I don’t think being sad is to be avoided. It’s apathy and boredom you want to avoid. But feeling anything is good, I think. ~ Joseph Gordon-Levitt

People who keep stiff upper lips find that it’s damn hard to smile. ~ Judith Guest

The sun always shines above the clouds. ~ Paul F. Davis

If you keep your emotions locked in a box, then when you want to open it one day you’ll find that they’re gone. ~ M.D. Arnold
