5 Steps to Cultivating Self-Love

Are you ready to love yourself?  Are you ready to become fully alive? Are you ready to take responsibility for your experience and begin to lead a happy, full life.  Are you ready to not only create it but embrace it?

5 Steps to Cultivating Self-Love.

1.  Eliminate Self Criticism.

He who undervalues himself is justly undervalued by others. ~ William Hazlitt

When you catch yourself in the act of self-criticism, note it and stop it!  Beating up of self is not allowed!  And beating up yourself because you are beating up yourself is definitely not allowed!

2.  Acknowledge Your Effort.

Enthusiasm is the mother of effort, and without it nothing great was ever achieved. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

You are making a valiant effort.  You really are!!!  And it is the consistency of your effort that counts. Acknowledge that you’ve done your best, even if the tangible results haven’t manifested quite yet.  It’s the journey that matters.

3.  Have Faith.

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe. ~ Saint Augustine

Know that you have the ability to make important changes for yourself, for as long as you put your heart into it. Have confidence in your abilities.  Have faith in yourself.

4.  Acknowledge Your Feelings.

Feelings are everywhere – be gentle. ~ Anonymous

Loving yourself requires that you be truthful about your own feelings – to you. If you are happy, acknowledge the joy.  If you are sad, acknowledge the sorrow.

When you are truthful about your feelings, you will not try to lie to yourself or seek to stuff down your negative emotions.  Instead, you will become increasingly aware of your thoughts and feelings.  And as we all know, thoughts are merely suggestions.  They can be changed!  Healing and self growth are possible.

5.  Nurture Your Dreams.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.  ~ Walt Disney

When you focus on and nurture your dreams, you begin to manifest them; you begin to turn them into reality.  Express yourself fully.  Don’t hold back.  Love yourself!
