What is an Antioxidant? An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules.
Antioxidants protect the body’s cells from damage caused by free radicals.
What are Free Radicals? Free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron and ‘steal’ electrons from surrounding molecules.
We are exposed to free radicals all the time. Sometimes through radiation, smoke ozone and nitrous oxide, x-rays, chemicals, pollutants and saturated fats; sometimes free radicals are produced by our bodies.
Can Antioxidants help us lose weight? For one thing, foods that are ‘heavy’ in antioxidants are some of the lowest-calorie foods that are the best for you! When you feed your body with nutrient dense foods, you are naturally more energetic, strong, focused and more empowered to live a healthy life.
