9 Julia Child Quotes: Celebrating 100 Years of Joyful Living

You Can Never Lick (100 Year Birthday) Cake! by Janice Taylor, Self-Help/Weight Loss Artist

Yesterday, was the 100th anniversary of Julia Child’s birth.  American chef, author, and television personality, she is most remembered for bringing French cuisine to the American public with her first cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” as well as her television programs, most notably The French Chef, which premiered in 1963.

You may not have thought them a likely pair, but Our Lady of Weight Loss and Julia Child were – for the most part – of the same mind and stood for the same thing.  Their values were very much in alignment.

Here follows …
… 9 of Our Lady of Weight Loss’s Favorite Julia Child Quotes
that illustrate ‘same mind.’

EXERCISE:
The best way to execute French cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken. Bon appétit.

HAVE FUN:
This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook- try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun!

BE PASSIONATE:
Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.

BREAD IS NOT THE ENEMY:
How can a nation be called great if its bread tastes like kleenex?

FRESH INGREDIENTS:
You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients.

GET FIRED UP:
I think every woman should have a blowtorch.

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE:
Remember, ‘No one’s more important than people!’ In other words, friendship is the most important thing–not career or housework, or one’s fatigue–and it needs to be tended and nurtured.

 MASTER TECHNIQUE:
Once you have mastered a technique, you barely have to look at a recipe again.

PORTION CONTROL:
.… small helpings, no seconds, no snacking, and a little bit of everything.
Slim down while you laugh it up!
