PLAY, TOSS and LOSE: Weight Loss JigSaw Sunflower Girl Salad

This week’s Get Jiggy Weight Loss JigSaw Puzzle – “Sunflower Girl” – was inspired by the Sunflower.

The sunflower stands tall.  She keeps her face looking toward sunshine, thus eliminating shadows.  With her head full of seeds, she is readied to sprinkle healthy wisdom upon the earth…

… and upon our salads!

Cranberry Sunflower Seed Salad

Serves 1

  • 3 handfuls of your favorite lettuce greens, mixed, iceberg, arugula or otherwise
  • 2 tablespoons dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons salted sunflower seeds
  • a drizzle of your favorite salad dressing

    KICK TUSH “Diet – Save Me Some Calories TIP:  DRIZZLE TILL SATISFIED!
    When you’ve got a platter full of beautiful greens, tossed with salted seeds and sweet/sour fruit, do you really need a more than a drizzle or a minor splash of dressing???  No, you do NOT!  It’s not that a fabulous olive oil based dressing is ‘bad’ for you.

    Nevertheless…
    DIG THIS:  One tablespoon of oil is 120 calories.  If you are pouring like there’s no tomorrow, you’re going to use up a major allotment of your daily calories on olive oil.  Do you want to do that? No, you do not! :)    Try drizzling until satisfied and see how many calories you like!

    REMEMBER … clicking burns calories, keeps your hand and mind busy, AND gives you time to contemplate how many calories you want to spend on your dressing!!!
