You pray for good health and a body that will be strong in old age. Good — but your rich foods block the gods’ answer and tie Jupiter’s hands. ~ Persius – 34 AD – 62 AD
How are you on this spectacularly bright and happy morning? I’m okay and that’s saying something!!! After six weeks of rehab, we (as in Peter and I) moved my mother (Harriet, 95.5 years young) into her new assisted living digs (10 days ago)! My oh my, how time flies when you are having fun!!! (For those who don’t know, Mom fell not once, but twice in the beginning of December!)
We are making the best it, for sure. Just as I turned weight loss (another ‘heavy’ topic) into an art project, I realized that I’ve kind of done the same thing with ‘this.’ With Peter’s help, we’ve turned her new apartment into a masterpiece of comfort and light. We’ve incorporated an amazing deep blue accent wall (which Peter painted), small scale furniture (Peter assembled) that you can easily (relative term) push up from the arms and stand upright (another relative term), etc. Instead of turning to food when angst out (and there have been plenty-O-angst moments), I’ve turned to HomeDecorators.com website. Another place I’ve turned to for mental health is Bed Bath and Beyond and the Container Store. AND yes, we had a budget, and YES, I did stick to it!
Here’s a preview photo of her new digs. I told Harriet that she has lots of fans (from past videos posted on Facebook and in my Beliefnet.com blog, as well as on these KITT Club pages) and that her audience is anxiously waiting to hear from her; they want to know that she’s A-Okay! She said that for now she’ll wave at the camera, but videos will have to wait until she’s more settled in and oriented.
So … without further ado, there she is, waving. The 50″ inch sofa, chair and ottoman to match, as well as those darling stacking tables are our latest purchases. The photos on the radiator are family photos.
Be Strong In Old Age: I find this week’s featured quote: You pray for good health and a body that will be strong in old age. Good — but your rich foods block the gods’ answer and tie Jupiter’s hands. ~ Persius – 34 AD – 62 AD – really interesting. Not just because of the wisdom of Persius’s words, but when he said them. Will we never learn the lesson that our health is tied to the foods we eat???
Apologies to those who’ve written to me in the past few weeks and I’ve yet to answer. I’ve been busy with ‘life!’ I will do my absolute best to answer you this week!!!
