Stop saying the following words and/or phrases and you will lose it!!!

Sometimes, we unknowingly toss words and phrases about  that  can and do have a negative impact.  I thought it ‘utterly useful’ to review some of these words today.

Tune into your self-talk, lose the following phrases, and smile!

“Do or Do not. There is no try.” Yoda from Star Wars

TRY …

When we say that we will “TRY” to do something; try to follow a plan, try to lose weight, try to be patient, try to make it to your party, we are – in effect – creating an enough wiggle room to wiggle our way out! When you say that you are going to “TRY,” what you are really saying is?  “Maybe I will eat healthy foods.  Maybe I won’t.”  “Maybe.” Hmmmm…

What to do?  When you hear yourself saying “I’ll TRY” – STOP!!! Dead in your tracks (as they say) and listen for the subtext.  What are you really saying?  At the very least, be straight with yourself and if you do NOT want to do something; then do not do it, but do not try.  You’ll eliminate a great deal of failure; that much less to feel badly about, hey?  You can also substitute to the words “explore” or “discover” for try!  Try it!!!

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re always 100% right.”  Greg Hickman

I CAN’T …

When you say “I can’t,” then you can’t.  When you say “I can,” then you can.  Your subconscious mind will seek reasons to support whatever position you take. You CAN count on that!!!  The more times you say “I can’t,” the more you will experience limitation and failure.

When you hear yourself saying “I can’t,” STOP dead in your tracks 🙂 … pause and ask yourself, “What’s going on?”  Is fear surfacing?  Do you think that your current circumstances are standing in your way of doing whatever it is that you want to do?  Or perhaps, you simply don’t know how to do it???   Instead of saying, “I can’t,” say – “I can” or – if more accurate – “I don’t know how YET.”  Begin to understand and seek solutions.

“A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.” Albert Einstein

I SHOULD / I HAVE TO …

No one likes being told that they ‘should’ or ‘have to’ do something.  When we state “I should” or “I have to,” it feels as though there’s an outside authority weighing in and over us.   Inner resistance emerges.  The Inner rebel surfaces!

When you hear yourself saying “I should” or “I have to” … that’s right 🙂 … STOP dead in your tracks and ask yourself whether or not you want to do this?  You always have a choice.

Spread the word … NOT the icing!
