Dear OLofWL ~ A year ago, I started a weight loss journey that took me from 195 lbs to 138 lbs. (at my lowest). It was a doctor supervised program. I saw the doctor monthly, went to nutrition, psychology, and exercise classes every Monday night. I made sure I walked 10,000 steps a day, and I kept my calories at about 1200 a day. (I’m between 5’5″ and 5’6″).
The weight came off like crazy!!! I went from a size 16 to a size 6 and threw away all my fat clothes! My friends and family were amazed! My cholesterol and trigliceride numbers were perfect!
One thing I forgot to tell you…the doctor prescribed Meridia to curb the cravings. I did great as long as I had the meds, but the first of the year the program ended, and I have unhappily gained 10 lbs.
I need to get back on the wagon now, before it gets any worse. But life is stressful and all I want to do is eat!!! If I see food, I think I should eat it! I really need a kick!!! Thanks! ~ Cam
Dear Cam ~ I feel your pain, Cam, I really do. There’s nothing more demoralizing than losing weight, and then finding it again! You know, gaining it back. Am I right, or am I right? And yes, you need to get back on the wagon NOW. Not later today, not next Monday, not next week, NOW!
How to jump back on gracefully? How to easily and effortlessly get back in the groove? … you ask?
First … practice self-loving-kindness. Compliment yourself on your decision to write to OLofWL, asking for a Kick. You took action. Brava! Now build on that one simple positive step! What’s might your next step be?
Chose a healthy living food plan that is sustainable. As you now know, a year with a doctor who is giving you pills is not sustainable. It is a set up to lose the weight and then find it!
And then ask yourself,
“What will losing weight give me that I wouldn’t otherwise have?”
“How will losing weight improve the other areas of my life?”
Delve deep, think hard, write out your answers to those questions. In detail!
Healthy Living is a HOLISTIC Event! If your goal is to ONLY lose weight, you may lose it – BUT … you will find it – again!
