Thirsting for a True Blood “V” cocktail? I thought it would be fun to kick off the summer Vampire Juice Season with a True Blood Type “V” Cocktail. Something easy to mix up, satisfying and delicious; and a drink that has the power to connect you to either Bill, Eric or maybe Sophie-Anne LeClerq, Vampire Queen of Louisiana!
Bottoms up? Enjoy your True Blood “V” Cocktail as we together kick off the summer Vampire Season!
Virgin UP: True Blood Type “V” Cocktail
Ingredients:
4 oz Spicy V-8
juice of 1/2 lime
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
6 dashes Tabasco® sauce
salt, pepper to taste
1 lime wedge
2 celery stalks
Instructions:
Add juices and sauce to a shaker with ice, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Shake vigorously enough to burn calories and send a clear message to the Devil, himself, that you are not playin’ his game.
Strain over ice cubes into a highball glass and add a lime wedge and both celery stalks.
Variation: Bloody V Juice Cocktail
Add Vodka!
Celery Buying Guide
Celery is available year round. When choosing your celery, be sure that it looks crisp and snaps easily when pulled apart. Its leaves should be green in color without any yellow or brown spots. Another thing to keep an eye out for are seedstems. These are round stems that are present instead of the small stalks that one usually finds in the middle of the celery. Celery, with seedstems, is bitter tasting.
When storing your celery, place it in a sealed container in the refrigerator. If you are storing already cut or peeled celery, be sure it’s dry. Pat it with a paper towel before putting in the sealed container. And don’t even think about freezing it, as this will make it wilt.

It’s so good to have True Blood back – what a cracking episode!
Here’s a great piece I read on the series – with advice for the show’s producer’s on what to do – and what not to do – this season! Some really cool ideas here – clearly written by a big fan of the show!

“I’m going to show you how to make Vampire Juice. We’re going to start off with our ice. Pour that into your glass. And then we’re going to add to that one ounce of coconut rum just like so, excellent. Then we’re going to add in one ounce of Blue Curacao like that, and one ounce of Bacardi Limon or any lemon flavored rum. All right, we’re then going to fill this the rest of the way with orange juice. Really enjoying doing this vampire laugh. Go ahead and shake that up, and you may serve this in a highball glass if you like, or a Collins glass. It is up to you. Add in your stirry straw and a cherry just for fun, and there you have it, Vampire Juice. Enjoy!”
