American Idol Winner – A surprise?!?

Who won American Idol? Lee DeWyze was crowned the “American Idol,” beating the favored Crystal Bowersox, in a surprise result that shocked many.
Lee DeWyze, a 24 year-old paint salesman from Chicago, struggled with his self-confidence throughout the season. He was shy, sometimes awkward and as Simon pointed out on numerous occasions, Lee needed to believe in himself.
Lee DeWyze had all the ingredients for great success, all the resources to carry him toward his dream, but first and foremost he needed to believe in himself.
Late in the game, but nevertheless in time, during the semi-finals, Lee, brilliantly performed Leonard Cohen’s classic song “Hallelujah.” He opened up, he smiled, he turned the corner, and as he believed in himself, we began to believe with him.
It is a great lesson illustrating, once again, how our minds dictate the results; how believe in ourselves opens us up to the limitless possibilities and wondrous twists and turns that life has to offer.
Here’s to the glorious possibilities and opportunities that are sure to show up in all of our lives today! May we rise to the occasion and seize them!

I appears that many, many “fans of American Idol” never did their research on the winner of this years contest. I knew Lee DeWyze had it in him from the very beginning of the top 20 pick as there were/are several websites where you could go to see this crooner do what he does best, what he’s been doing on the side, what he loves, and thus what compares him to Daughtry. The one thing I wanted to make certain was that we didn’t lose Lee the way we lost Daughtry in such a shocking painful loss during that season. Lee has such a versatile style that is noted when he’s not nervous, on videos posted that anyone was welcome to view during this season. Crystal is very, extremely unique and is NO DOUBT going to be cutting an album and going to be successful without the title. Lee, with title in hand, can now be recognized for his love and passion. We mustn’t judge a book by its cover or we may miss out reading some of the very best works out there.
I just don’t see how this was such a surprise. I was biased though all along, so pardon me.

Belief in self is important. Believe enough so that you are present to at least give it your best shot. Because of the text messaging skills of teen girls – Lee is the champion. He believed enough in himself that even though Crystal was the superior singer – Lee prevailed. There is a lesson here for all of us.
