This week’s Get Jiggy JigSaw Puzzle is entitled “Spring, Butterflies and Vernal Whatevers,” is inspired by the Vernal Equinox. Bring it on!!!

At precisely 1:32 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (17:32 Universal Time), the Sun will cross directly over the Earth’s equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, with open arms, we welcome spring; in the Southern Hemisphere, autumn arrives.

Should you stand on the equator during either the vernal or autumnal equinox, you would note that the sun is passing directly overhead.
Equinox Means “Equal Night”.
Equinox, translated literally means “equal night.” Given the position of the Sun, day and night are just about equal in length all over the world during the equinoxes. Because of the tilt of the Earth’s axis, 23.4 degrees, we now receive the Sun’s rays most directly throughout the summer.
Urban Legend?
Word on the street is that during the vernal equinox, one can stand a raw egg on its end. The truth of it is this: with a bit of patience, you can balance a raw egg on its end on any given day, at any time of year.
Rituals Abound!
Throughout time, many a celebration has been created around the Vernal Equinox, the coming of spring.
1. Food supplies would soon be replenished and restored.
2 Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon of the Vernal Equinox.
3. The early Egyptians built the Great Sphinx so that it points directly toward the rising Sun on the Vernal Equinox.
4. The Persian New Year begins on the first day of spring, and its celebration lasts for 13 days.
How will you celebrate the Vernal Equinox? By saying “Amen!?”
