A Tuesday Tasty Tidbit: Freeze the Fat Away

Want to wake up fast? Give your metabolize a boost? And force the toxins and oils out of your skin?
Take a cold shower.
Yikes! I know, freezing cold is excruciatingly painful. So here’s what to do.
Start off with a hot shower. Ease your way into cold.
After you are feeling comfortable (but not so comfortable, you’re falling asleep against the shower wall), start moving the water knob towards cold. That’s right … a little bit at a time, until it IS cold. Stay with cold until you want to scream and then, put it back to hot for one minute. Back to cold for one minute.
Do this back n’ forth thing; hot to cold, cold to hot, hot to cold. It’s important to end your shower in cold mode.
As you step out of the shower note how refreshed, wide awake, invigorated you feel, and know that your metabolism is in motion.

    Couldn’t I just jog in place in a warm shower? The very idea of a COLD shower makes me want to curl up into a fetal position on the shower floor. Ack!

    Well, the cold could have more effects than a temporary high!
    Your body burns fat to keep you warm. If you live in a chilly environment, or just let yourself experience coolness every day, your fat-burning system will develop, and after a few months you won’t feel chilly. Actually, you have a kind of metabolically active fat, called “brown fat,” that burns the other fat. Sort of like having your own inner bank of candles lit… eventually the candles will dwindle away to nothing, and the room will get warm.
    I tried this. It sort of worked. I stopped feeling chilly, and now I save a bundle on heating bills. Of course I turn the heat up when I have visitors. But I just got hungry, and didn’t get slender, alas.

    This is great! You can also do this at the gym if there is a sauna. You spent 15 mins in the sauna and then jump in the pool! Go back and forth about three times. I have also heard that laying on your right side afterwards helps cleanse.
