CNN shocked to learn Air Force uses 10 Commandments, Golden Rule to teach ethics

posted by

In a breathless expose , CNN has revealed the shocking news that the U.S. Air Force has used the faith practiced by four out of five Americans to teach ethics to U.S. airmen.

That just can’t be allowed in CNN’s politically correct world.

“In a lesson designed to teach the Air Force’s core values to ROTC cadets, Christian beliefs such as the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount, and the Golden Rule are used as examples of ethical values, CNN has learned,” reports CNN reporter Jennifer Rizzo.

“Slides go on to explain what each of them are, for example listing 7 of the Ten Commandments,” continues Rizzo’s report.

CNN reported that an Air Force ROTC instructor whistleblower came forward with the slides to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, an atheist activist group, after seeing a CNN report last Wednesday on Christian biblical references and saints’ pictures included in ethics briefings for missile launch officers.

“I felt extremely uncomfortable briefing some of these slides, deleted them, and added what I felt were more relevant examples,” the instructor said in an email to Mikey Weinstein, the foundation’s president.

The instructor, who wishes to not be named due to fear of backlash from the military, claims the lesson was provided by the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), the same unit that oversees the training of the missile launch officers.

David Smith, a spokesman for the Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command, verified the ROTC ethics briefing and said a comprehensive review is underway “of training materials that address morals, ethics, core values and related character development issues to ensure appropriate and balanced use of all religious and secular source material.”

It is sad to read that anybody should think Western ethic values to be only regarded as Christian values. The same values actually apply to most European ethic values.

I think there is nothing wrong with teaching these values to Air Force officers. Actually, many European countries have even own priests or ministers serving in their armies, even female military officers who serve as ministers for their troops. They also pray with their men and help them in moral issues. I am sure they are also very valuable in what they do.

Atheism, however, is in most parts of the world regarded not as a religion at all, and has no shared ethical values. However, ethic values are badly needed in military.

Congress Shall Pass NO LAWS concerning the establishment of a religion
Nor Shall it pass any laws RESTRICTING THE FREE WORSHIP THEREOF.
This is the PROPER DEFINITION of the First Amendment giving us the FREEDOM of both Speech AND Religion. so leave my 10 commandments ALONE

This is sad…our country was founded on God and look what it has become today and what the state of our country is today.

Is CNN saying that the Air Foce should have no morals. They can bomb anyone they don’t agree with, such as CNN?

I say good for the USAF. I also so that we need to reign in these select few people that want to dictate policy to everyone on their own demonic and nonChristian beliefs. I challenge anyone to show me where it has anything in the constitution about this? It is not there. But we are constitutionally protected with freedom of speech. You can teach about anything, but Jesus Christ. This is wrong, and we need more of Jesus in this country, not less!

If an athiest doesn’t understand commons sense or what provides comfort to individals who stand in the breach between us and the terrorist of the world then they should not whine and cry when other have a support system they find comfort in. Strange though with my time in Viet Nam I knew many who claime to be Agnostic or Athiest, but strangely enough when we took fire they suddendly found Chrisianity and how to pray.
If you do not wish to participate in a relegious experience that is your choice under out laws, but you do not have the right to deny those of us who beleive our relegious freedoms. Our nation was founded upon Judao/Christan principles and they are found throughout our Constution and all of our laws are based upon those principles also.

I can’t believe that a few aetheists can control our country….founded on IN GOD WE TRUST….maybe if a few more christians stepped forward this country would be in better shape.

I am sick of the minority in this country dictating the laws for this country. What our country was founded on is being destroyed when a far majority of Americans want the values and principals this great country was founded on to stand firm! Talk about injustice! We are having our freedoms taken away and it makes me afraid.

THE SYSTEM HAS WORKED IN THE PAST AND IS NOT BROKEN SO DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT.

When we as a county get back to our roots and get back to church then and only then will our world turn around for the better. God We Trust
