No Easter eggs in Seattle, instead “spring spheres”

It had to be a rumor. On the Internet, there were reports that Easter eggs are now banned in Seattle schools.

Well, it turns out that a 16-year-old high school student identified only as “Jessica” told a Seattle radio talk-show host of her experience as a volunteer in a third-grade class at a local elementary school, which she chose not to identify.

Jessica told KIRO Radio host Dori Monson that a week before spring break, her private high school’s students commit to a week-long community service project. She decided to volunteer in a third grade class at a nearby public school

“At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that,” Jessica told Monson’s radio listeners.

“She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs,” reports Stephanie Klein of, a Seattle news site.

“I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay,” Jessica explained. “She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat ‘spring spheres.’ I couldn’t call them Easter eggs.”

Rather than question the decision, Jessica opted to “roll with it.”

But the third graders had other ideas.

“When I took them out of the bag, the teacher said, ‘Oh look, spring spheres.'”

However, the kids weren’t fooled.

“All the kids were like ‘Wow, Easter eggs.'” said Jessica.

“So they knew.”

I worked at a school and even Christmas vacation had to be altered to winter vacation. Ridiculous!

You have to be kidding me! when will we stand up and say enough is enough!! It’s time for some radical change and an end to “politically correct” brainwashing!! THEY ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE EASTER EGGS. If that offends anyone, just go scramble a few.

Even if you are not celebrating Easter as the Christian holiday it is, the Easter Bunny doesn’t deliver ‘spring spheres. My kindergarteners would look at me like I was crazy!

I wasn’t going to write anything, but I decided too anyhow.
Since when does everything we say or do have to be politial correct? Why don’t we take all the politics out of everything we do or say and just go on with our lives? All this stuff banning this or that because city school borads DO NOT WANT TO OFFEND anyone. So we have Muslims here there are Jews, folks from all around the world and we have all kinds of customs of everykind on the books. Even before you and I were here we had the native Americans who had even had their customs and now they are not look upon anymore. JUST WHO IN THE WORLD DO WE THINK WE ARE? Telling folks that Easter Eggs are banned or even Christmas time for the kids in our schools that know better than the adults making up all these bans of this or that because the adults are afraid of hurting someones feelings? If you or I are offended by this ban then we should say SO! Why don’t we take all the politics out of everything and just live our lifes and try to to remember that we were 3rd graders to?

Why are schools so worried about offending people. Christians are offended on a daily basis! No prayer, no pledge of allegiance, no christmass vaction! I am so tired of everyone but the Christians have a say about dos and don’ts. We are a nation that was created on GOD! The white house closed on Sundays. We are in the last days and may GOd save us all.

when i was in school,we had christmas parties, easter egg hunts, valentine parties and sat indian style, now everything is different. holiday parties, spring spheres, and criss cross applesause
people have just lost their minds. i teach my five year old what i was taught in school, we still prayed in school and not a moment of silence.and that was public school. soon schools will not be allowed to celebrate any holiday for the fear of offending someone.i also teach my child about other cultures, so let children be just that,Children, let them have fun for soon they will growup and see the world for what it has become.

Like they say…”From the mouths of babes.” Guess they’re already unhappy that we’ve replaced prayer in school with metal detectors in school. Yay kids!

I live in Snohomish, Washington – 35 miles north of Seattle. This doesn’t surprise me. It is absolutely typical of Extremist Liberal Seattle. But it is sad, because the Seattle authorities just do not get it. (Seattle still) Ron Sims, King County’s former Executive whom is now in Washington D.C. with Obama’s administration came out and gave orders to the government workers that they could not say ‘Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Hanukah!”, they had to say “Happy Holidays!” or “Season’s Greetings!”
