Front Lines of Culture Wars: Huffington Post targets Republicans, ignores Jesus’ cautions

What happened to fair reporting, asks Beliefnet’s “On the Fron Lines of the Culture Wars”:

“In a forthcoming series of articles,” announces Huffington Post writer Andrea Stone, “HuffPost is taking a close look at the charitable giving of Republican presidential candidates. How much and to whom did they give? How does their giving compare with their fellow Americans? And what impact did they ultimately have?”

Oddly missing is any examination of candidates from the other side of the aisle — as in no Democrats will get the same scrutiny, according to the Huffington Post announcement.

Also missing is any consideration that Christians are taught not to brag in public about their charitable giving. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns that thumping one’s chest about donating to the poor has serious spiritual consequences.

The Huffington Post is probably not examining the Democrats charitable giving because there is only one person running for the Democratic nomination and his records have been open for the past couple of years.

Does Sunday Morning Church Really Need All This Glitter, Showmanship and Gimmickry?
What’s wrong with church today? Are we in danger of turning worship into a flashy concert? Of watering down the message so nobody is offended? Of forgetting the simplicity of the Gospel? I grew up with a preacher’s kid. He was a fake following in the footsteps of his flimflamming father who d
