Blogger Takes on Campbell Soup Over Islamic Society Certification

posted by Ju-Don Roberts

Blogger Pamela Geller, who was instrumental is raising objections to the Islamic community center near Ground Zero, is calling for a boycott of Campbell soup as a result of the company offering halal soups in Canada certified by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), according to an article in The Washington Post.
Geller said she has no objection to the halal certification itself. Rather, the article states, she opposes Campbell’s decision to have its Canadian products certified by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an organization that government prosecutors alleged had ties to the terrorist group Hamas in a 2007 conspiracy case.

I’M SO SICK OF YOU WHITE RACIST BASTARDS, EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND ITS ANOTHER ONE OF YOU BASHING MUSLIMS,. I HOPE ONE COMES TO YOU IN YOUR DREAMS LIKE FREDDY AND CUT YOU ANOTHER ASS HOLE !!

  • pagansister

Got a problem, RICO? I couldn’t tell, since you seem to like shouting at no one.
I think I’ll keep eating my Campbell soups. There is no reason not to. It’s just soup, and everyone eats soup—even Muslims.

  • RICO

and i will continue to eat it as well pagansister,… my issue is why is it that anything a muslim does its some ass out there trying to stop them,… news flash,. “Timothy McVeigh oklahoma bombing”,…. it was NOT a muslim who did that, how come its no one jumping up and down about that !!?

ISNA, 2007, they have probably been found innocent of those charges. I don’t think a big company like Campbell Soup would do anything without checking everything out. This lady sounds like a bloodhound for anything muslim. Is this the one that posted in all the buses in N.Y.C.?

I think that “Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an organization that government prosecutors alleged had ties to the terrorist group Hamas in a 2007 conspiracy case.” is a lot different than “anything a Muslim does”.
There is a real concern when it comes to separating what Muslim organizations has ties from the ones that do not. Wishing for people to get cut is not a real good approach to establish non-violent peaceful intent.

I won’t buy anymore Campbell soup! Not only does it support the muslims who want us all dead but it also uses sea salt. Which polluted sea did they get the salt from?
GOD, not allah, the stupid moon god, (look it up) bless America!

  • nnmns

She wants another spotlight turn and she’s getting it. I long for a return to sanity.
Does Campbell make Kosher soups, and if so who certifies it, and does that group have any connection whatever to the Israeli government which attacked the USS Liberty, killing thirty four American sailers and wounding 174? If so, why is Ms. Geller not attacking them for that?
Please go to that link and read what our “ally” did to our helpless sailers. Then think about why nothing has ever been done about it.

  • cknuck

    good point nnmns

I simply don’t get the hoopla over this. So Campbell’s is selling soup that is halal. Does it also sell soup that is kosher? I look at it as simply another way to sell products rather than endorse a religion.
Am I wrong on this or what?

  • cknuck

I don’t eat it because it’s half salt and the nutrients have long since been processed out

  • nnmns

    There’s that.

  • Khaliah

I am getting so tired of this. Conservative Americans looking for anything, ANYTHING, to get their panties in a wad in regards to the fact that MUSLIMS EXIST AND ARE PEOPLE JUST LIKE AMERICANS.
The point has been made several times: how is this different than making kosher things for Jewish people? For goodness sakes, check stores like Bel Air or Safeway and you’ll find half of an AISLE devoted to traditional Jewish foods. Why not include halal foods there, too?
In no way is Campbell’s supporting the religious institution of Islam by doing this. What they ARE doing is supporting THEIR RIGHT to practice Islam by observing the tenets involved in the consumption of food.
What is this obsession with treating Muslims like slag all of a sudden? Why do we keep forgetting that not all Muslims are terrorists? Why do we keep giving attention to anti-Muslim sentiment? All it does is make anti-Muslim people develop even more potent persecution complexes for “protecting America from the evil Muslims and their liberal enablers.”

I am with you on the salt issue. Though my blood pressure is healthy I simply cannot tolerate that much salt anymore. It all simply tastes like brine.
I believe the regulations for kosher and halal are almost the same. One might think they could use one team of inspectors for both certifications. Oh, but that would be C~R*A>Z
