Metal of Honor — 9/11 Documentary

posted by Nell Minow

The full-length touching documentary “Metal of Honor” is the story of the ironworkers who arrived as the towers were collapsing and stayed for up to eight months to make sure the area was cleared safely.  It is on Youtube, and is highly recommended as we think of the courage and sacrifice inspired by the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

I was at 9/11 as an IronWorker, saw the original version of metal of honor in 2002, again in 2006 on TV and just purchased a version, thats much more heavily edited.I’m in the video, they used one of my pictures for advertisement and on the website.I tried to take screenshots to post to my Facebook 9/11 Ironworkers Group and they came out scrambled.I looked up the SC-BY-SA? copyrights. It seems somewhat publicly available under certain terms I may qualify for. I noticed it’s pulled, can you tell me anything about what you went through? Greatly appreciated,
    Thank You, Sincerely,
    Kelly Miller

Kelly, I don’t have any information about that, but you can contact Spike TV, which is listed as the producer. Good luck!

Uptown Funk from A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School and Teacher Scot Pankey
High school teacher Scot Pankey brings the funk to the entire school in this joyous dubstep video. I love its spirit and its inclusiveness; everyone is just there to have fun. It has become a viral sensation, tweeted by Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, and the guy who sings "Uptown Funk," Bruno Mars.

New Web Series: That's Racist! with Mike Epps
I'm a big fan of Mike Epps, and am excited about "That's Racist!," his new web series on AOL. It is a provocative look at racism and stereotypes. Are Asians bad drivers? Are Jews cheap? Do African-Americans all like fried chicken? These and other stereotypes are explored by experts and people ins

Three Views on the Challenges Women Face in the Film Industry
It is wonderful that directors like Ava DuVernay, Angelina Jolie, and Gina Prince-Bythewood gave us superb films in 2014.  But it is an indicator of the challenges still faced by women filmmakers that none of them was nominated for a major directing award. The Alliance of Women Film Journalists
