Tribute: Corey Haim

posted by Nell Minow

In “Lucas,” Corey Haim played a smart, sensitive boy who has bravado but struggles to find confidence, ultimately finding the hope of love and a place to be himself. I wish his real life had as happy an ending. For decades, this talented actor and his friend Corey Feldman were better known for failures off-camera, and then on-camera in their can-they-make-a reality show, “The Two Coreys.” And now he is dead of an apparent drug overdose. He is probably best remembered for a vampire film, “The Lost Boys.” Today, that title feels sadly apt. “Lucas” is an outstanding family film, and I am glad we have that to remember him by.

This is so sad. He’s my age. Between this and Andrew Koenig, there go a little bit of my teenage years. I remember Cory Haim best from the goofy sitcom “Roomies” that lasted only 8 episodes.

  • Dustin Putman

Just a correction–his name is spelled Corey Haim. Very sad, indeed. :-(

One of my all time favorite actors from my early teen years. Thanks for the memories Cory.

This is so tragic and sad….Corey was so young….it is heartbreaking to see young, talented people lose their lives this way…my heart goes out to Corey’s family and loved ones. Drugs have had a devastating effect on this nation and the world. A very sad part of our history and an irretrievable loss of life.
