B.J. Thomas Live

posted by Nell Minow

We saw B.J. Thomas perform at the Birchmere tonight. His voice is marvel, wonderfully clear and supple. He sang all the hits, “Hooked on a Feeling,” “Rock and Roll Lullabye,” “Eyes of a New York Woman,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” “Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song,” and of course “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

I loved it when he sang my very favorite, “Mighty Clouds of Joy” — with spirit that filled the room with some mighty clouds of joy of his own. Check out his tour dates to see if you can get a ticket.

O the Birchmere!!! What a magnificent place – if only more folks in the DC area appreciated this gem. We saw our favorite gorup, Schooner Fare there a few times, as well as at the Barns at Wolftrap and the Filene Center too. But there is something about the Birchmere that comes close to capturing the spirit of the folk places of the 60′s and 70′s.
BJ Thomas is a voice I have not heard for a while – except from the Butch Cassidy soundtrack. It is a voice from my high school soundtrack.

Isn’t that funny– I just saw BJ Thomas recently myself. My wife took me for my birthday, and I had a wonderful, wonderful time. His voice was as beautiful as ever. Lots of golden memories.

Interview: Genevieve Bailey of "I Am Eleven"
There's a reason that so many heroes and heroines of classic literature are eleven years old. It is that last magical moment at the cusp of childhood and adolescence, which is what makes it so fascinating and delightful. Genevieve Bailey remembered the year she was 11 as one of the happiest of her l
