A Touch of Encouragement

A Touch of Encouragement

Bright Lights, Big Galaxy

While visiting the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles, Martha Williamson became intensely aware of how tiny we really are, but more importantly, she was reminded of how God created everything with meaning and purpose, including us.

What a great story Martha and so true. I have been there at the Observatory a few times in my life already. A great place to go too and think about all the things you just talked about in the video.
God’s creation is so amazing and stunning when you sit down and think about it.
Thank you for sharing this story Martha, God Bless you beautiful lady,

When we leave the big city, and head out to the country…the stars and moon are so beautiful. Last week, two of my granddaughters and I were going to their home after being in town, and the moon was going down in the west, shaped like a very thin smile. Then the clouds would pass over it, and totally change the picture. If one looked really close, there were times you could see a very thin outline of the entire moon. I have never seen the moon look like that in the 60+ years I have looked at the night sky. God’s universe can be amazing. I don’t know if you realize you made a very unique altar call in your short visit with us. Preachers spend all week developing a sermon that will not offer an opportunity to accept what He has for us, better than the one you just gave. Cool!

Yes, “God in His wisdom saw fit to put us here” on this tiny speck that He “hurled out into space”…..and indeed the magnitude of this “idea” is almost too much for our limited minds and perspectives. I am reading a wonderful book that I think discusses some of these ideas. Julia Cameron has written another brilliant piece with ‘Faith and Will.’ It is like a monologue – a stream of written consciousness about exactly where God figures into our personal lives on many levels. It is about surrender and the prayer, Thy Will be Done, as Martha has herself talked about before. We hunger for this information, because, in truth, it sets us free….it liberates us from our self-imposed restrictions and limitations. Thank you once again, Martha, for being a collaborator with our Creator to bring us divine messages of faith, hope, and love.

Hi Martha,
My screen saver is a beautiful picture of the earth; when I bought the computer for my graduate school, I decided to keep the picture of the “little rock” on which we live with a particular goal in mind: to remind myself no matter how life turns out to be, I am to put it into perspective beyond my little world. I was struggling today trying to make sense with my life that is so chaotic at this very moment. At the end of the day, I made a decision to be still in my thoughts and my emotions. I decided not to make sense with my own reasoning but to trust in the LORD and His words. Well, I know it’s going to be hard, but I’m going to try. I am hopeful and my attitude is that of learning as you’ve also said, “Lord, what are you trying to teach me in these things ?” I am encouraged by your words tonight and I thank you for sharing your words of wisdom and strength.

Hi Martha;
I just watched your video and I wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful reminder of our Creator and Sustainer Jesus Christ. I have never had the oppertunity to go to an observatory but I have laid on the grass many times and just watched the stars in the night sky. When ever I see the moon my mind goes immediately to Genesis, the book of beginnings. The lesser light to rule the night..The sun the greater light to rule the day..What a beautiful universe He has created and the greatest thing He has created is us.All mankind with all our problems and differences..what an awsome God and Father..
