If you ever really want to know why there’s a fairly consistent amount of stress (in you) in the midst of your conversation with others, just work during the time in question to be more interested in discovering the truth of yourself (quietly watching yourself) than you are in trying to prove yourself as being somehow special or otherwise infallible.

In all of us there dwells a certain “dark” character whose chief feature is to ensure that no one ever doubts its perfection. As long as we identify with this unconscious nature, we embody its fear…which is, by the way, the proof of its imperfection.

And who wants to protect what is inherently blind to itself, even as it insists upon its 20/20 vision!
