The Meaning of Suffering

posted by Guy Finley

Are all these struggles and their suffering merely disparate circumstances, void of meaning and viscious in intent, or are these vicissitudes of life invisible structures placed before us, meant to reveal both the ladder to the heavens and the soul created to ascend it? I am tired of suffering about one thing or another. The childhood abuse sexual, emotional, mental and physical. My gambling addicted husband, who no doubt cheats on me regularly and denies it. The loss of a good friend much too soon. The way my family treats me as the scapegoat or doormat. I try to put myself in gods hands. I hate being this way. I could use some tips on how to get out of this. It all has caused me severe anxiety and depression to the point I can bearly function. I need help

The Clarity of Wholeness
Question: I know I have a confused and divided mind, so how can I get it into self-wholeness? Answer: Just as an electric fan cannot sort papers on a desk, giving them order, neither can the whirling mind produce Peace. To see the truth of this causes a kind of “self-disconnect,” and at once

It is in the acceptance of life as it is -- as it is given to us in each moment -- that we find the wholeness, the holiness that is the one true center of this storm called "life."
