Discover Your Secret Role in the Greatest Story Ever Told

posted by Guy Finley

Can a collection of hundreds of thoughts — spread out across a vast expanse of space and time — spoken world-over by thousands of different voices –tell a single coherent story? The answer is an unqualified “Yes!” — but only when each of these thoughts is realized for what it is: the expressed reflection of the divine mind from which they radiate, not unlike the light from the sun which reveals itself in the glimmer of a thousand diamonds as they dance upon the sea.

Whenever, through our exploration of life, we come upon some “seed of fire” — some new thought or insight that awakens us to a part of ourselves unknown only a moment before — we realize that we are not alone. These sometimes shocking moments make two things clear at once:

First, someone “out there” — whose “footprints” we have stumbled upon — knows us better than we know ourselves, for they have awakened us to a truth about ourselves that we didn’t know a moment before. And, for having now been introduced to what amounts to a higher level of our own awareness, we also receive another gift beyond description: the realization that within us already lives a body of timeless wisdom that is more who we are than anything we could have ever imagined ourselves to be.

Faint as it may be, we perceive the presence of an immeasurable, if not divine life whose possibilities are somehow recognized as being the same as our own: one timeless Self divided into three parts — “The Seeker, the Search, the Sacred.” The new self-understanding for which we search is already a part of the seeker, as it’s always found there, within us, or not at all. And further, it is the Sacred itself that secretly initiates the search!

Regardless of when in time, or where on earth, a “seed of fire” — a truth bright with promise — appears, its effect is always the same. By its deft touch, “the sleeper awakens” and the meaning of our life takes on a whole new magnitude. The Spirit that called inspired seekers who have gone before us — that awakened their hearts, and quickened their minds — so that they might have “eyes to see, and ears to hear” — is the same spirit calling us. These individuals came to know, as will you, the truth that sets us free: There is but one seeker, one search, and one sacred intelligence awakening us with its call.

In the Spiritual World There is No End in Sight
What we need to succeed in the spiritual life is a heart that can see. Most people spend more time taking care of their physical bodies than their spiritual ones. They preoccupy themselves with insane appetites to try to keep the body alive instead of being concerned that their spirit is dying.

(Video) There's No Sense of Self in a Right Action
Guy Finley explains that true goodness is not measured by actions which validate your image of being good. What is truly good has no self-reference -- it comes from pure action, which is a natural outcome of being present.

The Interior Action that Builds Character
The character of goodness, of compassion and kindness that we would like to reflect and express before our friends (and enemies), requires that we place “its” life before our own. And yet, when we agree to this interior action of self-sacrifice, not only is our life returned to us, but we find t

Enter a World Where Goodness is Its Own Reward
Once we see it's impossible to please ourselves at the expense of the pain of someone else, we are released from the cycle of seeking a false comfort whose conflict compromises "winners" and "losers" alike. Only then are we free to enter a new world – above the opposites -- where goodness is its o
