Law of Attraction in Action: “I’m Afraid of Getting Older.”

This is post 154 in my series on the Law of Attraction in Action. You CAN use your power to attract all that you need. I do it every day! Read all the posts in my Law of Attraction in Action Series to see how.

Yesterday in my post, Happy Birthday to Me, I talked about how many people see getting older as torture. I’ve heard people as young as 20 say, “I’m afraid of getting older.” So I ask why and hear that they expect life to be all downhill from here on. That attitude is such of waste of life! I’ve asked what they expect to happen. People expect their bodies to deteriorate, their hair to get thinner, professional opportunities will be career, etc. Whatever they have now, it will be worse.

All these expectations go out into the Universe and the Law of Attraction thinks you want that stuff and obliges you.

So you can actually attract all the negatives of aging that you expect. This is so counterproductive to being happy. I remember when one of those types of people warned me that by the time I reached 40 my eyes would start to get bad and I’d need glasses. I said, “No way!” And having passed that age, I still don’t need glasses, even for reading. But most people expect it and get the glasses. Yes, my body has some extra creaks and little things, but for the most part I expected to stay strong and healthy as I got older, and am.

Connie Fillmore “So-called aging is not the deterioration of life, but the deterioration of our faith, our enthusiasm, our will to progress.”

When you fear getting older, your faith takes a hit. Believing that life gets worse as the years pass makes life get worse. It’s a form of giving up. It’s hard to keep faith strong when you believe your worthiness is getting less and less with the passing of each year. It’s important to understand that this belief is your CHOICE, not your destiny. And when you CHOOSE to believe that getting older means losing your mojo and not being as good as when you were younger, the Law of Attraction makes it your truth.

I KNOW I’m better than ever and keep improving each year. Better and better and better! And I intend to continue getting better as each year I’m richer from the experiences of the year before. As Gloria Steinem said, “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.” I still feel like a kid and I’m far from the age of one. But my head is happy and my heart is joyous and my beliefs are positive. Life is wonderful. I’m so much happier than many people I know who are much younger than me.

It’s a waste of your life to think you’re not as good as you were when you were younger!!

Why spend the rest of your life going downhill when you can do pretty much anything you choose. Life is a gift. You make of it what you believe. I’m definitely not in what many people would consider my prime, but, that doesn’t matter. I consider myself to be in my prime and I keep getting more into my prime instead of losing my good assets. It’s so much more fun to enjoy life every day, knowing that your age is what you make of it. The Law of Attraction responds and I feel great, look great and do anything I choose to.

Age has never stopped me because I don’t believe it should. Try to adopt this kind of attitude. You don’t change because you get older. You change because you expect to. If you can change that expectation, you’ll attract a life that’s so much better and let aging happen naturally, in peace.

Wow, this really helped me. I too am afraid of getting older but now I see by changing my way of thinking can really help me not to be afraid.

I grew up hearing my Mom say, “Age is just a number” and I believe her. As I got older, I was delighted to discover it is also merely a state of mind. If you quit concentrating on the numbers and look at the years as a positive; time required to acquire maturity and wisdom, well now, both of those are something to aspire to and be proud of. I’m 67 and a two time cancer survivor with COPD. I’ve got so many things on my “bucket list,” and still so much to learn, that I have no time to worry about my age. Like Dayelle says, “you are what you think you are” so life is what you make it.

    Glad it helped Jennifer!

Such great wisdom from your mother Cheryl!

It isn’t that I’m afraid of getting older; I’m disappointed that the world sees me as elderly and no longer necessary. For example, I spent 30 years in the commercial lines insurance industry, and yet now, all that knowledge that I have stored up is no longer valuable. Instead, it’s been replaced by a computer that thinks for you.

Youth and beauty are touted in our society as being necessary to being happy. It amazes me that there are wrinkles on my body that I never imagined would wrinkle!

Fear . . . no, I’m not afraid! I just need to reinvent myself in my elderly world. I fail God so much with my self-doubt and self-imposed unworthiness that I seem to be stuck in a rut of old age! My birthday may say I’m elderly, but my heart says I’m still me . . . Somehow I just have to get my heart and my soul lined up with each other.

I know more today than I knew yesterday, I am wiser and more appretiative of life and all it has to offer. I look forward to tomorrow because life brings you knowledge you could only possess through living in a world of excitement and sometimes pain but it’s all for a reason. My pastor always says things are better today than they were yesterday. Embrace your destiny and know what’s coming is is always better than what has been.

I loved the Law of Attraction piece today (Sept. 23, 2011) I was feeling pretty great about getting older, but everyone thought I had lost my mind. Reading this reaffirmed me and I loved it. Thank you so much.

Barbara–You’re not failing God. He loves you no matter what. You’re failing yourself but that can change quickly. It doesn’t matter how people see you. If you see yourself with love and acceptance you can change the dynamic. Wrinkles don’t define you. What’s inside does, and it sounds like you’ve got that acceptance.

Fabulous Zaiah! Your pastor is spot on!

Glad my post affirmed how you’re on the right path Jodi!

I like to say and believe: ” We are never too old to be new!” It’s having an attitude of gratitude and being in touch with our inner child.

I am now an old timer, and I still love life here on this earth as much as ever. I love it here on this earth and expect to love my spiritual life in heaven after I leave this one. It has been wonderful here, and I certainly believe it will also be wonderful in the next life.

All you can do it try Sharon. God will support you when you do!
