Consciously make sure you have music you enjoy playing whenever you can. Music can definitely life the soul. Make sure it’s music that makes you feel good, not creates a negative mood. Years ago, when I’d break up with a guy, I’d play songs about heartbreak and sing along. Obviously that didn’t help me to get over the guy. It made me feel worse. Now I have playlists I love that I put on when I’m feeling a bit down and they always lift my spirits.

Music can be like a tonic when you listen to the right tunes.

When I’m writing I love to listen to jazz without vocals. When I’m relaxing it’s classical or new age. When I’m exercising or cleaning it’s rock with great guitar licks. I have a couple of albums that I associate with joy and play them when I’m feeling down or low energy. And there’s lots of other music I love when I’m just home doing small things. But one thing is for sure, I always try to have music playing.

When I’m on my computer I often listen to music through Pandora.  It’s a free Internet radio site where you can create your own stations. If you pick an artist, their very special technology picks a variety of songs that compliment that artist. So I have stations for different kinds of music, for different kinds of moods. But I enjoy it all!

Find your pleasure in music and listen to it often. It’s a great way to say, “I love me!”
