It’s been scientifically proven. Smiling triggers your body to release serotonin, a neurotransmitter chemical which makes you feel good. Sometimes if I’m feeling a little down, I force myself to smile. Maybe I picture someone I care about.

Babies are good to trigger a smile. So are happy memories. My favorite place to be is in the Rocky Mountains. I feel like my soul lives there. So when I want to crack a smile, I visualize the mountains or look at photos from trips I’ve taken.

Find your own reasons to smile. What curls your lips? There’s gotta be something!

Smiling is a great act of self-love. Studies have shown that people who watch funny movies that make them smile and laugh a lot recover more frequently from cancer and other diseases. So smiling has many loving benefits! Make a face in the mirror. Watch a funny movie. Watch kids in a playground. Look at photos from a happy time. Do whatever it takes to make you smile. The more you do it, the more you’ll probably want to do it.
