Obama will have his bad days. This rising passion and momentum will be challenged. Bad news will come out. Ugly things will be said anonymously. But listening to him speak and hearing the crowds and chants of “USA! USA!” and “OBAMA! OBAMA!” it is easy to see many more nights like tonight.
A dear friend wrote and said the kids around Obama today see him as she saw RFK in 1968.
That sounds about right. He is preaching hope and optimism and rallying people around a belief not in words or policies but in a worldview. Doing so is a dangerous thing because it is easy for it to sound hackneyed or idealistic or naive. But Obama is pulling it off. He is pulling it off because he and Huckabee both are inarguably authentic.
