Ashes to ashes and dust to dust – even for a million dollar Ferrari…

Why is this worth looking at given Iraq and Tony Snow and Elizabeth Edwards and Darfur and on and on? Because there is actual eternal significance here. First, that even the hottest, most wonderful thing – in this case the $1.2 million enzo Ferrari – is just brittle material and can’t even withstand a little concrete barrier. Second, the driver – actor Eddie Griffin – did a wonderful job of laughing it off (at least in public), “The brother’s good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can’t drive,” Griffin told reporters. What a good attitude to have – to hold things loosely, to not give things more weight than they deserve. And finally, how quickly things change. Tony Snow and Elizabeth Edwards face questions about how they are going to live their lives. Statistics are thrown about saying they have X% chance of this and Y% chance of that. The truth is, no one knows the time and the place of that last breath save the author of breath. A good thing for us all to remember.
