And THAT is why we should never interact with people who are different than us. Today: they got Matthew. Tomorrow: THE WORLD! Is no one safe?!

There is probably a lot more to that story than we were able to see. But that was very interesting.

Thanks for posting it.

Farewell Matthew Miller. Seriously though, if he wants to do that, kudos to him.

I believe he was simply satirizing John Piper’s comment that was directed towards Rob Bell…

I can’t view the video right now, but can I nitpick on grammar for a moment? Wouldn’t it be either “converted to Islam” or “became a Muslim”?

Yes. Yes it would. I was thinking it, but didn’t want to say it.

Surprise surprise! He has been a Muslim for a long time and didn’t know it! All along I thought it was a choice you made. How do I find out if I’m a Muslim? I think I’m a Christian but I don’t want to be caught off guard one day.

When my son was about 3 we were at a Chanukah celebration at a friend’s house where my son was given the honor of lighting the Menorah. When we got home that evening, he said, “Mom, I think I might be Jewish!” Maybe this guy’s story is similar?!?

I’m pretty sure Muslims believe we are all born as Muslims. So there’s that…

If you consider the Calvinist doctrine of “perseverance of the Saints” and the notion of Election, you could say that some Christians believe that we were “Born to be Christian” and that those who de-convert never were Christians in the first place. So it doesn’t seem any different, there.

Correction. I see the difference. In that case let me point out the OTHER similarity (haha here I go again) in which Christians say that no child is “born atheist”. Some atheists say no child is born religious, too, which is of course a direct opposite on the idea. I guess people view their worldview as natural. So natural, in fact, that every baby must clearly agree with them.

But I know *I’m* the only correct one here: all babies are born agnostic 😛

I don’t get it. How is this a story? Hundreds of religious conversions happen every day. Is it remarkable because he is white and the conversion is from Christianity to Islam? Are they trying to stir up xenophobic feelings? CNN, there is bigger news than this to report on.

i think the title is misleading, it doesn’t really get into why… just a quick mention that he believed that Muhammad was a messenger of God, i would be more interested in the long version of this story

I find it interesting that, the way this is set up, if he was saying Jesus and Christianity instead of Mohammed and Islam, it would look just like any other cheesy video testimony that gets played in a church on Sunday morning.

I think there are a lot of similarities between our two beliefs that are ignored or not understood. And this video does a good job of highlighting that.

Before I comment I have accepted Jesus as my personal savior. Why do we attack the muslim religion? Do me that is being judgemental. That is for God to decide on whos right or wrong. The sad thing is I find way too many christian being mean and I do find quite a few muslims that are really nice. No wonder people want to switch. I urge you not to judge this man for becoming muslim. I urge you to be a witness and love on this man. I didnt hear him bash the christian faith at all. Besides God is a God of love and we need to start treating others with love.
