Jesus Needs New PR

I promise… THIS will be the strangest thing (set to a Beatles song!) you’ll see all day

Does somebody care to translate this?

Found at Christian Nightmares.

Drop all the qualifiers in that title and you’ll be right on the money. This is surreal.

Yeah. I’m pretty speechless after that. One question I did have… exactly how many costume changes will she pull off in 4:34?

I’m at a loss for words.

I don’t know whether I should laugh, or if I should cry. Maybe both.

Strangest thing I’ve seen in a LONG time.

I don’t think they’re really saying it’s a “funny” parody- except to get away with using the music without royalties. Read it again:

“An example of our “Spoiling the Egyptians” series. Parody by strict definition, but done with respect, and loving intent to evoke serious thought, with less humor than typical in parody.”

Still searching for references to “shoop” in the Bible. Clearly an important word according to the song… O_o

So are they saying “parody by strictest definition” purely to skip past copyright issues…?

“Shoop” is urban slang for photoshopping something. I believe she is referring to the change you experience through Christ…which i similar to being photoshopped. I know it sounds confusing, so I will make a video to help explain it using a parody of the music of “Hey Jude”. Hope this helps.

Oh, okay, I thought she was getting at how we alter Christ to be more like our image of him, or maybe a slam at how he’s depicted as a white-skinned, blue-eyed man hanging on the cross.

Makes much more sense now. Thanks! :)

I know I am in the minority on this, but I thought it was kinda cool! Sure it’s weird, and not put on in the most professional manner, but who’s going to deny a person the right to express themselves through music? Don’t watch it if you don’t like it.
Beauty, musical taste, and much more is subjective, so if what someone does doesn’t fit nicely into your framework of what is “right”, leave them alone. Don’t put them on display for public ridicule.

Leave Britney alone (lol that’s what I feel like I’m doing right now).
Anyway, no where in the Bible does it say that we should ridicule and make fun of those in the flock, or even outside of it.
Instead it says, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up” (Eph 4).
