Jesus Needs New PR

A Modern (Psychotic?) Mary Magdalene

This is very interesting. It’s a little odd in spots… and compelling in others… but overall I think it’s a provocative concept, one that at least is creative and thought-provoking…

What do you think about it?

What are your thoughts on modernized biblical stories?

great concept – really helps us understand how the kingdom really is when you see Jesus appeared to someone who would be deemed mentally ill

however the Christ is risen whispers drove me totally nuts myself

I could have probably done without the “typing” at the end and the acting was a bit over-dramatic in places. However, as a concept I think it’s really quite brilliant. I’d like to see it done with a seasoned group (producer, director, actors).

I think it could be very compelling even to a “secular” (ie. not marketed as a “Christian” film to Christians see:Fireproof) audience.

Good concept. We forget that many thought the early Christians to be out of their minds. This brings it home.

Thought provoking and disturbing. I love how it does not resolve at the end, like so much Christian media tries to do.

Interesting that it leaves open the possibility that she really is crazy. Obviously she has the viewer’s sympathy, being detained and questioned like she is, but I like how she basically is a crazy person saying some crazy things.

I enjoy fresh perspectives on old stories. Makes them come alive again.

Good performance and good editing.

I think one interesting thing about the prodigal son is how much the Father is like the prodigal (both seem to like parties, for example). Have you read Tim Keller’s Prodigal God?
