Wow… I’m wondering what the point of this is? I’m sick of ridiculous Christian spin-offs.

It’s as if they think Christians aren’t good enough to compete in the original series, so they have to create their own league or something. If we’re going to go by the current contestants, I’d have to say they AREN’T good enough.

Why single ourselves out like this? Especially in a less-than-excellent manner. Wow. Just wow.

American Idol CCM/Gospel edition’s not an all bad idea. Instead of murdering/redefining classics from Whitney and Mariah, we can take a crack at Sandi and Amy. How much El Shadai can one take? Petra night? I’d watch some

Mormons would totally take So you think you can Xian dance though. Might not be fair

Hello, I’m the founder of America’s Christian Talent. We are producing this event to bring forward to a large national audience America’s faith-inspired entertainers, to deliver not only their talent, but their often profound spirituality and connection with Divinity. Your support and kindness in the weeks and months ahead as our contest grows is very much appreciated. We hope to provide a venue where God-given talent can be featured, without Hollywood’s machinery being part of the process. Thank you, G. Emerson Brant Founder | America’s Christian Talent

That’s right, I am sure this will be stripped completely of Hollywood’s Machinery, except that you will copy the model almost completely and let the gears of American Christianity grind out your “stars” Do you think Christians in other parts of the world have these schemes to promote fame under the guise of faith?

Hmmm. Seems hinky. If you check Whois, G. Emerson Brant is listed as registering the site from NY.

Check the Christian Teen Artists Website and his free art school is in Texas, no comments on the site, and some of the links don’t work.

Check the CTA Facebook page and his video. It’s uh, generic.
There is a siren in the background and the sound sucks.
If you are a professional promotor, why doesn’t your sites work and why does the sound suck on your video?

Dunno. Seems hinky.

    Dear Bene,

Thanks for your interest in America’s Christian Talent.

I thought it would be helpful to you and others to respond to your comment.

CTAacademy is the first faith-based online art and music school in America. Our school just completed its first semester and is offering 100% free classes for every kid in the nation who has artistic or musical talent but because of school budgets and what have you, they have no place to grow with their art.

We just signed a five-year agreement with one of the largest church organizations in Texas with over 108 member churches, all wanting to be part of CTAacademy.

However, CTAacademy is not connected to “America’s Christian Talent”, but it embodies the spirit of our mission, to foster the talents we can discover and build their audience, plain and simple.

I’m not sure what video you’re talking about where the sound is faulty, maybe you can send me a link to it?

We want to have excellence in our websites, so your feedback is very helpful, thanks!

Is it wrong for me to pray this talent show never makes it?

Either, Christians have completely lost our creativity and must mimic everything “the world” does….
or
American Capitalism is taking advantage of Christians….
or
maybe both.

I’m pretty sure this competition is set up at least partly to pimp the video by Brittany Mann ( http://vimeo.com/14393870 ) as you will notice that hers is the only one with a sales pitch instead of a descriptions followed by the contact details for her managing company who is… none other than the same organiser who posted all the videos.

    Dear Ian,

    Good day!

Your comment is not correct. We are not “promoting” any contestant in “America’s Christian Talent”, not Brittany Mann nor anyone else.

However, since you bring up the subject, why don’t we look at the actions of the judges in “the other competition” especially in this 2010 season, with respect to a certain young singer in their contest?

It’s an emphatic case in point why ACT has no “celebrity judges”, and never will.

We want America to have the first, and last word at all times when it comes to our voting.

    Thanks again for your support.

Remember way back in the Renaissance years when Christian art was good and creative enough to define what mainstream art was- and didn’t have to separate itself into a separate and largely inferior sub-culture?

Unfortunately, a lot of those artists would no longer fit into the tiny, tiny little mold too many of these groups try to force on the definition of “Christian.”

Wow. 6 entries. That seems about right for the amount of “talent” found in mainstream Christianity. Now, if they were to name it “Christianity’s Got Copycats” it would have more of the ring of truth to it.

Ok, so get this, I recently viewed the website for “Americas Christian Talent” and noticed that the most recent video by “Sofia Sanabria” an 11 year old girl form miami, fl. is lypsynced!!!!! She prerecorded the song in a studio and basically made a music video and submitted it. As far as i can tell all the other videos submitted are in real time. So i already didnt think this was being fair to all the others. Now im not saying that she cant sing or anything, but when i comes to recording, you can make the worst singer in the world sound awesome! its called editing. I know because i am a recording engineer. Now apart from that, i saw that the competition has a facebook page. I checked it out and saw that another current contestant 12 year old “Shelby Comey” has just signed an exclusive managment contract with the same people offering part of the grand prize “CTAmusic”. Now thats just not ethical to still have her in the competition. There is a conflict of interest there. This competition really does not seem fair to me at all. If this is to be successful, then it has to be fair to ALL WHO HAVE APPLIED!!!!! My vote, Red thumbs down.
