Yeah – not the camera angle you want anytime, but especially not during the scandals and media coverage now!

He looks like the priest, or bishop, or whatever from The Princess Bride.

To top it all off the angel at Stage Left on top of the pillar has a MASSIVE erection. Again, just bad PR in the midst of all the scandals…

You people need to get you minds out of the gutter. If this wasn’t Catholic would you still say the same thing? It looks like to me that the gentleman kneeling is being ordained to possibly the diaconate or the priesthood. Why do I even bother?! I’m Catholic and darn proud of it!!!

It’s got nothing to do with it being Catholic, Danny. It’s a camera bad angle. If I saw an elder in the same position in front of my pastor, I’d laugh!

And there’s nothing wrong with being proud of your Catholic faith! Except for the pride of course. :)

Ok, call me naive. I didn’t even get what the photo was all about, and I kept looking for a related article. It didn’t become clear until I’d read the responses.

What would it look like if you gave up Christian Nightmares and Unreasonable Faith cold turkey? Could you do it? Maybe you should wean yourself slowly.

And this photo is, well… unfortunate.

As a practicing (till I get it right) Roman Catholic Christian, I must say – that is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. The institution of clericalism is rapidly dying – not fast enough – but the Church itself always rises up. I think about St. Francis (who made the Pope and everyone else remember Jesus)- and say – Hey guy – where are you when we need you. There’s St. Teresa of Avila who said – ‘if this is the way you treat your friends, no wonder you have so few” in prayer. Or my personal favorite – St. Theresa of Lisieux – “If I am willing to serenely bear the burden of being displeasing to myself, I will be a pleasant place of shelter for Jesus.” The Church – be it Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical, Pentecostal – just has difficulty looking at itself with honesty and love – a difficult combination. Every single time I hear a minister / priest / or rabbi talk about “them” – the ones outside our safe and good place – I know I’m hearing someone who isn’t looking too hard at himself/ herself. But you gotta love them anyway because they’re trying so hard – doing all the wrong things. Picture like this – all the wrong things.
