Prayer for the Week

Almighty and merciful God, it is only by your gift that your faithful people offer you true and laudable service: Grant that we may run without stumbling to obtain your heavenly promises; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Hello Jesus Creeders,
Can anyone recommend a written prayer for our elected leaders and the election? Or any wisdom?
I do appreciate this community.

John, This isn’t a prayer, but one could pray from it. Some good words from N.T. Wright for us here in the U.S. on the eve of the election.

Dr. McKnight,
Thank you for your seminar at the Pittsburgh YS Convention. I really just appreciated your approach on how to read the Bible differently. I particularly enjoyed the perichoeresis concept of entering into the story. God bless you and your ministry.

I can’t find a prayer for an elected official in the BCP. There is a prayer in the BCP for “independence day” but that is a prayer for a nation.

Psalm 30 thanks God (vv. 1-3, 11-12) and exhorts others to thank God (vv. 4-5). Both emerge from the concrete reality of David's own experience. Here is what that experience looks like:Step one: David was set on high and was flourishing at the ...
