Amen and amen! Please also pray for the local and national authorities who may be involved in search and rescue operations.
“Heavenly Father I ask that You would watch over all those who are involved with this terrible storm. Help those who are trying to help others. Grant wisdom and courage to the workers and peace and hope to anyone lost or stranded during this time.”

amen… Lord, cover New Orleans and the surrounding towns and cities with your wings of compassion and mercy….
Psalm 46: 1-3 God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
the tremors that shift mountains.
Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
GOD-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

Looks like it’s just tracked a little bit further west. Thank you LORD! They say that New Orleans may not get hurricane force winds…

Scot and all, thanks for this simple and gracious call back to the center on this Labor Day. I understand it could have been worse, but it is still bad. I add my prayers to all those above and the countless others offered this day.

Psalm 30 thanks God (vv. 1-3, 11-12) and exhorts others to thank God (vv. 4-5). Both emerge from the concrete reality of David's own experience. Here is what that experience looks like:Step one: David was set on high and was flourishing at the ...
