How Bad Do You Want It?

On the rare times that people come to me looking for advice, I hear them out and then ask the same question: “Do you really want it?” Whether it’s struggling for a promotion at work or losing weight, to me, everything comes down to desire. How bad do you want it? Because, when you truly desire a certain outcome or goal, nothing will stop you from attaining it.

Our powerhouse blogger Gabrielle Berstein of Spirit Junkie is asking the same question. In her vlog, she challenges viewers with this statement: “You can’t make change unless you really want to.”

That is so true, we can’t have change in any area of life unless we really want to. I think most times we have to hit a bottom where we realize we cannot go on with the habits, behaviors, addictions, or patterns unless we really, really understand our need to change and the consequences of continuing in any negative pattern.

It’s the grace of God and the power of his Spirit, which not only nudges us for change but will guide us in that change. Surrender is realized by knowing God’s grace is sufficient for us. Is not always easy to rest in that.

Thanks for your post, reminding us of the need to really want to change and surrender.

My question to self is to I really want to lose weight? Of course I do, but I think the real questions is to I really want to do the necessary things, which will help me towards that goal!
