Inspirational Sports Movie Moments: Facing the Giants

If you’re feeling defeated, one of the best things to do is to watch a good sports movie. Rocky, The Mighty Ducks, Hoosiers… there are all kinds of films about overcoming obstacles and becoming champions that will revive your spirit.

Life can get you on the ropes sometimes, but having a coach in your corner to spur you on can change everything. One of our editors here at Beliefnet, Stephen Russ, just put together this great gallery of the Top 10 Inspirational Sports Movie Speeches. Check it out and share it with your friends.

In the meantime, I want to share one of my favorite sports movie moments. I remember seeing Facing the Giants when it first came out. Some parts I liked, some I didn’t. However, this scene has stuck with me ever since.

Remember, give life everything you’ve got. There’s no telling how far you’ll go and how much you can do so long as you don’t give up.

I was into sports when I was younger. I played competitive basketball
and badminton mainly. I totally agree with what you said about watching sports-themed
movies getting your spirit up particularly when you’re down and low. But it’s
not just the movies, it’s the competitive sport that gets you back up and ready
to face the world again. Whenever you play a sport, you give yourself a chance
to win and at the same time, accept the risk of losing. Playing sports gives us
that adrenalin rush to compete and believe that we can win. It reaffirms the
belief that if you give your best effort, you stand a better chance at winning.
It also makes you realize that your actual capabilities exceed your perceived
limitation. Since we are talking about being inspired, I’d like to share with
you an inspirational blog, I recently found out about this
blog. The posts about organizations, leadership and business are truly motivating.
Anyway, thanks for this post! All I want to do is go look for my basketball.
