mutt-lynch-winery.jpgIf you love dogs and wine, Mutt Lynch Winery in Healdsburg, California would be your idea of heaven.

In 1995, married couple Brenda and Chris Lynch paired their love for wine and dogs by founding a vineyard to develop wine that had pictures of dogs on their bottle labels.

Clever canine-inspired wine names at Mutt Lynch Winery include “Unleashed Chardonnay,” “Portrait of a Mutt Zinfandel,” “Chateau d’Og Cabernet Sauvignon,” and “Canis Major Petite Sirah.”  The one bottle that started it all was “Fou Fou le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc,” a name Brenda and her graphic designer invented.  To illustrate the bottle, the label displays a dancing poodle.

The Lynches aren’t just producing good wine; they are also involved in local and out-of-state animal shelters and they give back to various dog charities.  The couple supported over 50 nonprofit animal organizations in 2009 and they hope to double the support this year.  They will also be donating $10,000 to Adopt-a-Pet.com, the nation’s largest pet adoption organization.  To continue fundraising efforts, the Lynches also started a nonprofit partner program that would introduce their wine at nonprofit events.

They also rescued a racing greyhound, named Patch, from New Zealand.  Mutt Lynch Winery also welcomes human and pup visitors–for wine tastings and “Bark” mitzvahs
