Get Ready for the Spring Equinox 2010

posted by lbrockway

Get ready for the Spring Equinox 2010. It may not be bring good weather but it will hopefully bring more light and balance back into our lives.

According to Holiday Insights: “The Spring (or Vernal) Equinox brings days and nights in equal proportions. It is simply the day when there is exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of nighttime. But, did you know that this is only true on the Equator? For the rest of us, there is more or less depending upon where we live on the planet.”

“The other thing to note is that the Spring Equinox is just a calendar date. From a standpoint of weather in your area, real spring arrives sooner or later depending upon where you live in the Northern Hemisphere.”

Enjoy these motivational quotes and sayings that celebrate spring to get the season started.

Comment: It is not correct that “this is only true on the Equator? For the rest of us, there is more or less depending upon where we live on the planet.”
The time of apparent sun rise may be confusing for those living near mountains because sunrise occurs later than when the sun’s rays are tangent to the globe of the earth.
However, at dawn or sundown the parallel rays of the sun are tangent to the sphere we call earth for all at the same time for those living on the same longitude (north/south line pole to pole) for all latitudes.

Howard Bennion is correct. The spring and fall equinox are when daytime and nightime are of equal length all over the world. In fact, the word “equinox” has a Latin origin and means “time of equal days and nights.”

The Problem with Pain
I’ve heard people say, “How do I get over something if it still hurts?” And yes, forgiveness is key, whether it’s aimed towards yourself or someone else. However, it’s not really the main issue. What people really want to know is, “How do I deal with the pain?” The problem with pain
