Powell Composes Another Masterpiece with How to Train Your Dragon 2 Soundtrack

posted by Angela Guzman

How to Train a Dragon 2

When How to Train Your Dragon took audiences by surprise in 2010 by how great the film was, there was surely no surprise at all when Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that there would be a sequel.

The soundtrack of How to Train Your Dragon 2 carries the lives of these characters and helps reinforce a great story. The film is very mature yet the sound is very balanced and helps level things out.

“Dragon Racing”, is the first track and is without a doubt five minutes that will not disappoint. Everything is grand about this song – the choir, the orchestra, the lyrics are all captivating and set a great tone for soundtrack. The hits just keep on coming through the album – there isn’t a dull moment.

This soundtrack succeeds the second, as it has the ability to tell the film’s story without even watching the movie. It’s all very cinematic, at various points, it’s almost like watching the movie again. There is undoubtefully moments where you can tell exactly what’s supposed to be happening on-screen. The music is so powerful and has raised the bar for future sequels and soundtracks.
