showtime time of death

Showtime premiered the first of a six part new documentary series – Time of Death on Friday, November 1, 2013. The series follows several individuals as they are faced with death due to their terminal illness. In episode one, Maria and Michael are featured as they battle death.

Maria, 48, is a single mom of three children. “She’s on borrowed time but she’s a warrior,” said her daughter Nicole. Maria was diagnosed with breast cancer and given 18.1 months to live; she has stretched that expectancy to four and half years. As any mother would, Maria is fighting for her life and trying to stretch out every day so that she can be there for her children. “I live in denial a lot. Somehow not knowing the cold hard facts is easier,” said Maria.

Michael, 47, on the other hand has accepted his fate. He was diagnosed with cancer three months ago and was put on hospice. There is no five, two or even one year plan for Michael. “It’s time to go,” he said. After being set on hospice, Michael’s health quickly declined and he is ready. Death is the inevitable and Michael is ready to be finished.
