Great, another “celebrity” using media to promote herself for book sales and a Presidential run. That’s an easy attitude to have when it comes to Sarah Palin’s new show premiering this Sunday on TLC. In a world where we seemingly love to hate, Sarah Palin has become a divisive figure that, depending on where you sit politically, represents all that’s right, or all that’s wrong, in this world. She’s been called everything from “scary” to “heroic.”Satirist H.L. Mencken once said that “a cynic is a man who, when he smells flowers, looks around for a coffin.” That’s an easy initial reaction to a show such as this but, after seeing it, I can tell you that the flowers are worth smelling. Forget the baggage, forget what you think you know, this is a great, feel good show about a wonderful mother and her passion for life and her children. You won’t see her on a podium passionately exclaiming the benefits of oil drilling and warning of the dangers of Socialism. You’ll see a mom, raising her kids, delighting in the joy of her special needs son and generally enjoying life. It’s sad to think that the only piece of this show that many might see is some “clever” out of context re-edit from an intern for Keith Olbermann.
