Trekkies everywhere are collectively holding their breath in anticipation of J.J. Abrams’ (“Lost,” “Alias,” “Cloverfield”) new “Star Trek” film, which hits theaters this Friday. Will the film– which gives the back stories of James T. Kirk and Spock–be everything they’ve been hoping for, or will it bomb?
Interesting, Gene Roddenberry, the creator of “Star Trek,” was not a big fan of religion. Nevertheless, faith managed to find its way into a variety of the franchise’s storylines. Writer Paul Asay does a wonderful job of illustrating how the 10 Commandments were portrayed throughout various episodes and plotlines.
