Here are some foods to top up on if you are suffering from acne problems.

Pumpkin seeds, ginger root, pecans, brazil nuts, oysters, shellfish, fish, and other foods rich in zinc. Zinc is crucial for the healing of your skin as it is used by the body to synthesize protein synthesis and grow new cells. As it also boosts your immunity, it can help you in fighting infections on your skin.

Flaxseed oil, walnuts, evening primrose oil and other foods high in omega-3. Omega-3 fatty acid (and its derivative, prostaglandins) is the primary constituent of cell membranes, and hence deficiency in this nutrient can affect the health of the cells which form your skin (and other parts of your body). This essential fatty acid is also needed by your body in regulating bodily secretions, such as the oil on your skin).

Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, collards, spinach, egg yolk, salmon, liver, cod liver oil, and other foods high in vitamin A. This is because a lack of vitamin A leads to the excessive formation of keratin, a skin protein that can clog the pores of your skin, leading to the formation of acne and other skin problems.

Citrus fruits, broccoli, peppers, Brussels sprouts, and other foods high in vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed for the manufacture of collagen, which is needed for extra-cellular stability of your skin. Ensuring sufficient vitamin C supply to your body can bring you healthier skin and fast healing.

Avocados, berries, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, and other foods high in vitamin E. Vitamin A functions primarily as an antioxidant that helps protect your cell membranes, and as such your skin, from damage.
