A Special Day of Celebration

posted by The MEGA Coach

Today, March 9th, is a unique day.

On March 9, 1936, Sri Yukteswar entered mahasamadhi, a God, illumined master’s conscious exit from the body at the time of physical death.  Sri Yukteswar was the beloved guru of Paramahansa Yogananda.

“The root of pain is egoistic actions, which (being based on delusions) lead to misery.”

“As man is the likeness of God, directing his attention inward he can comprehend within him the said Force and Feeling, the sole properties of his Self-the Force Almighty as his will.”

“The brain and spinal pathway is considered to be the seat of the consciousness in the body.  Moving life force through the chakras is the kriya pranayama that purifies the mind and results in happiness.  Thus purifying the mind and physical systems, the truth seeker attains a state of beatitude.”

                                    Sri Yukteswar

On March 9, 1931, Roy Eugene Davis, one of Paramahansa Yogananda’s disciples, was born.
Today is his 80th birthday.  Roy is one of the few living direct disciples of Yogananda.  He
continues to teach the principles of meditation and kriya-yoga that he learned from his guru.  His website is www.csa-davis.org. and his books and teaching are available to all.

From “Seven Lessons In Conscious Living,” by Roy Eugene Davis:

Opinions about the meaning of life and the purposes for our being in this world are of little value.  If our thoughts and actions do not enhance our lives, the lives of others and the environment, our relatively brief sojourn in this mundane realm of temporary relationships and transitory events is wasted.

“By earnest endeavor and God’s grace, when I was eighteen years of age I met Paramahansa Yogananda and became his disciple.  As a child, I was self-motivated to discover the practical means by which my desire to know the purpose of my life and my relationship to God could be most quickly and efficiently fulfilled.

When I was with my guru, he demonstrated by his presence and demeanor how a Self-realized person lives. He provided wise counsel and encouragement, freely shared his knowledge, and initiated and instructed me in spiritual practices.  One evening in the late autumn of 1951, a few months before he left his body, he transmitted to me the enlivening power of his enlightened consciousness and ordained me to teach.  The essence of what I learned during those early years, and have personally realized during the decades that have passed since then, I now offer to sincere devotees on the spiritual path in this concise lesson format.”

Back Cover of “Seven Lessons In Conscious Living“:

I salute the supreme teacher, the truth, whose nature is bliss; who is the giver of the highest happiness; who is pure wisdom; who is beyond all qualities and infinite like the sky; who is beyond words; who is one and eternal, pure and still; who is beyond all change and phenomena and the silent witness to our thoughts and emotions.  I salute the truth, the supreme teacher.

I am blessed to have Roy as my guru and teacher and wholeheartedly recommend his books and wisdom for your highest growth and greatest possibility.

Namaste,

Friendship -The Grandest Expression of Love

posted by The MEGA Coach

From Paramahansa Yogananda’s “The Divine Romance.”

“The relationship that exists between friends is the grandest of human loves.  Friendly love is pure, because it is without compulsion.  One freely chooses to love his friends; he is not bound by instinct.  The love that manifests in friendship can exist between man and woman, woman and woman and man and man.

Love gives without expecting anything in return.  I never think of anyone in terms of what he can do for me.  And I never profess love to someone because he has done something for me.  If I didn’t actually feel love, I wouldn’t pretend to give it; and since I feel it, I give it. I learned that sincerity from my Master.  There may be some who do not feel friendly toward me, but I am a friend to all, including my enemies; for in my heart I cannot have enemies.

Love cannot be had for the asking; it comes only as a gift from the heart of another.  Be certain of your feeling before you say to anyone, “I love you.”  Once you give your love, it must be forever.  Not because you want to be near that person, but because you want perfection for that soul.  To wish for perfection for the loved one, and to feel pure joy in thinking of that soul, is divine love; and that is the love of true friendship.

The relationship between guru and disciple is the greatest expression of love in friendship; it is unconditional divine friendship, based on a shared, singular goal: the desire to love God above all else. The disciple bares his soul to the master and the master bares his heart to the disciple.  There is nothing hidden between them.  Even in other noble forms of friendship there is sometimes diplomacy. But the friendship of the guru-disciple relationship is taintless.”

If my love can be bribed to compromise itself, then it is not love. If I have to alter my behavior toward you for fear of your reaction, then my feeling for you is not true love.  I must be able to speak with you honestly.”

A Source of Peace and Joy

posted by The MEGA Coach

Today marks the anniversary of Yogananda’s mahasamadhi.

On March 7, 1952, the great guru, Paramahansa Yogananda entered mahasamadhi, a God-illumined master’s conscious exit from the body at the time of physical death.

His passing was marked by an extraordinary phenomenon.  A notarized statement signed by the Director of Forest Lawn Memorial -Park testified: “No physical disintegration was visible in his body even twenty days after death….This state of perfect preservation of a body is, so far as we know from mortuary annals, an unparalleled one….Yogananda’s body was apparently in a phenomenal state of immutability.”

Yogananda’s life and teachings are still a vital and thriving source of light, love and truth.  His books and CD’s are so inspirational and in alignment with the proper principles of life.  “Autobiography of a Yogi,” is one of the most read spiritual books and guides ever written.  It opens a doorway to higher consciousness.

“Change your thoughts if you wish to change your circumstances.  Since you alone are responsible for your thoughts, only you can change them.  You will want to change them when you realize that each thought creates according to its own nature.  Remember that the law works at all times and that you are always demonstrating according to the kind of thoughts you habitually entertain.

Therefore, start now to think only those thoughts that will bring you health and happiness.

Thinking, reading and repeating statements of truth with a deep attention will help to clear away negation and to establish a positive attitude in your mind.  Repeat your prayers and affirmations with deep concentration until you establish a habit of thought, until it becomes as natural for you to think in the right way as it previously was for you to think negatively.

                             Paramahansa Yogananda

“He is the cleverest, who finds God,
He is the cleverest, who gives the time to find God,
He is the cleverest, who finds that supreme happiness within,
You can stand unshaken amidst the crash of breaking worlds,
He’s whose peace, the riches of peace, cannot be taken away
by all the robbers of circumstances and trials.”

“Beholding the One in All” by Paramahansa Yogananda  1949

May you find the light of God within and share it with the world.

Keep Looking Up!

posted by The MEGA Coach

I was speaking with a my Stepfather, Henry as his 94 year old sister passed away.
I was calling to give to him some comfort and to let him know I care.

Henry is an amazing person.  Even in his grief he shared something special with me.
He said, Sometimes God puts you on your back so you can look up.”

When you reflect on this idea it is quite profound.
Our toughest times guide us to look up, open up and learn the lesson we need to grow.

Challenging situations or even shocking events that happen move us to change our position,
point of view, perception or even our behavior.

It is in allowing life to be the way it is and accepting the situation in the present moment
that we learn the lessons being offered to us with the most grace and totality.

Resistance is futile, because what we resist, persists.
You may as well let go and learn the lesson now.

So as I reflected on the wisdom that Henry shared with me today,
I see that I am on my back right now too and looking up.

It is good to look up, because that is where miracles come from.
Our good comes from God and by being open and receptive we receive it now.

Henry, who is almost 80, was fortunate to have his sister for most of his life.
Now may she find peace and rest on the next part of her journey.

In speaking with Henry there was a sweet sadness present.
Even though he shared some humor with me and wisdom, he was allowing himself to feel his loss.

In his sadness there was actually a sweetness that I could strongly sense.
Because Henry was feeling his feelings and being present.

Life is a gift, for it allows us to experience and feel all that we are and all that God gives us.
Make every moment count…….

blessings,
:) Lee
