“The most I can do for my friend is simply be their friend.”

Henry David Thoreau

Today I heard a story about how one friend helped another.
They cared enough about someone else to do what most people would not.

It could be something small or it could be something big.
But, it is always something meaningful to the person in need.

Friendship is one of the most blessed forms of love.
It is pure and noble.  It is sweet.

As my wife shared what her friend had done for her today, I felt joy in my heart.
For being a friend is one of the greatest gifts in life.

At dinner, my wife shared with me what our son did for her.
Here was another act of friendship and pure giving.

Again it warmed my heart and brought a smile to my face.
It also brought a smile to my soul.

Then in the evening, my wife shared with me that she had received a gift from another friend.
Another person cared enough about someone else to do what most people would not.

This is extraordinary!  What a blessed day!
Three random acts of wonderful friendship and generosity.

Remember a time when a friend of yours did something special for you.

How did that make you feel?  What did you say to yourself?

What do you remember most?

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”
