Quick Idol update: I just heard from a friend who said that there’s some chatter in the town of Lima, NY – a suburb of Rochester, NY, where I live – that Jonathan Stills, a local guy who works as a school bus driver, has made it through to the Hollywood round of Season 9 of American Idol.
Stills is also a volunteer fireman in Honeoye Falls and a graduate of Honeoye Falls/Lima High School.
Rumor has it he auditioned for American Idol in Boston, so look for him tonight. And don’t forget I’m blogging live!

We all know that Idol contestants aren’t allowed to talk about their experience, but Stills is apparently on an unpaid leave of absence from his job until “at least March 15.”
Oooo! That could be fantastic news for a local boy!
I’ll keep you posted!
UPDATE: 2/10/10 – last night during the Idol Hollywood Week auditions, the local Fox affiliate promos mentioned an interview with local man Jonathan Stills. Way to go, Fox. That’s a giveaway that he was sent home during Hollywood Week. That’s OK; Idol can often be a stepping stone for a music career. (Although it would have helped if Idol featured him before they booted him.) And he’s got a fanbase already: Jon is my nephew’s school bus driver!
